I'd agree about the Rolex - while it is iconic, it is copied so much, I am not sure that anyone would assume you had a real one. Classic though, but only having been in SE Asia a few times for business, I couldn't say what sort of reception something like that would have in an ad agency.

I want to like Tag Heuer, and the Monaco is the one I like the best of the bunch, but it just doesn't "mesh" with me. Classic, especially with one of the 'special editions,' though.

For Breitling ... I absolutely love the Superocean. I prefer the 46 myself, but my wrists are large, so if yours is smaller then, 38 would work. The mesh band is wonderful - a bit flashy AND understated. Of the ones you listed, this is what I'd try for. It looks like a Breitling, but is also classic, and a little bit unusual. I would go for the non traditional colors - like the yellow/gold/orange colored one.

I also have lust for the Omega Speedmasters - a split between functional and dress. Though not trendy by a long shot. And when I was 30 ... I am not sure I'd go for it.

You know you could also get something with a Tourbillon view. But those can get very formal very quickly.

So I take it you want to project a image of "confident, creative, but still plays on the team?"

It would be an easy one for me the Rolex Explorer 1 buy a real one and you will have it the rest of your life or until you give it to your first born. They AWAYS hold their value very well. just my nickels worth :D

I agree with Devin and the rest of the folks who chose the Rolex—not because its a worthy watch, (we all know that), but because you have yearned for it since you were 18. To get the Explorer 1 would be to achieve a 12-year-old goal. Just something to consider.

You know ... you make a good point. mistake.gif

If you are drawn to Rolex Explorer 1... you had better get that one.  Anything else will be the "not Rolex."

Good luck!

That's my plan too. He even helped me pick it out and told me he would take it when I'm 84. didn't have the heart to tell him I probably won't make it that far...toon1.gif

I've had a few Rolex...my model choice would be the GMT Master II...classic look with extra function.  It's the only one I kept and it goes well with suit or jeans!

Don't know what it's like in NC but Singaporean advertising / marketing types are even bigger trendwhores than the people we sell our hyperbole to!  My best mate has the same opinion as you, but there are only two watches he would ever buy, the GO PanoNavi and the Chopard LUC Sport.

Can't say for sure, but I suspect NCers aren't quite as trend-conscious as Singaporeans. Do you know Neil French? One of my idols. Check out his site if you haven't already.

If you don't go with the GO, I think the Sinn Chrono is a great alternative.
