Hey everyone, I've recently been helplessly sucked into this crazy hobby. My first interest has been pilot style watches but now I'm itching for a more utilitarian dive watch. Initially I was drawn to the Marathon GSAR for it's tank-like construction... but perhaps a bit too tank-like. Which led me here. And you guys have unknowingly pointed me in the direction of several beautiful watches and now I can't decide. I was hoping i might be able to get a little help narrowing down my options (and possibly get a few more suggestions). the GSAR is still in the running I LOVE the Dievas Vortex and Focal TaWaTec Titan I'm looking for a solid everyday kind of watch that I shouldn't worry too much about actually using for all kinds of activities. I really like the tritium vials in the GSAR and TaWaTec (overkill sure), I seem to like a larger milled bezel, Automatic movement, and I'd love a date window (my one hesitation about the Vortex) and if at all possible I'd like to stick as close to or under the 1K mark. Anybody have any good/bad points about any of these or suggestions that may fit in the same boat? Thanks guys, I look forward to hearing from you and I'll certainly show off whatever I get!

my choice would be the Focal...mostly because I love the watch. I believe it meets your everyday wear reqirement, and it is just a clean looking piece. Ive seen few dip under the 1K mark used, so look around.

If you were to stick with your choices, then I would agree with Tony. But I would also suggest you consider the Armida A1, Seiko Sumo, Benarus Sea Snake (and I am stopping myself there) - all very robust, well within your budget, and very versatile watches. Happy hunting and welcome. Dim

I have had a Zinex (now renamed Zixen) Trimix Deep Diver for several years now and wear it everyday. Not to go too deep into it, but the watch has been used shooting, running, jumping, falling, diving, crashing, fighting and loving. It has perfomed very admirably, more so than its wearer, who seems to keep breaking himself. It has had no major issues at all, keeps excellent time, has great lume; the only thing that has went wrong with it is a spot of lume at the 12 on the bezel fell out. No worries. It also is right around your budget. Best of luck on your search!

Those are all great suggestions from my fellow 3T members...since being on this forum..I have acquired the Armida A1, the Irreantum Magellan, Tsunami Classic, Helson Tortuga and the Halios Laguna..and I love them all. You have many choices, and from the ones you listed I would go for either one of the Dievas models. Happy hunting!!

wow thank you guys so much for chiming in! I have looked at the Armida A1 but the bezel is a little overpowering for me somehow. I actually quite like the Benarus Mil Diver and the Seiko Sumo isn't too bad either. Thank you! And if those are both part of your collection Hamerfjord, I'm quite jealous! Great combo and write up! I've got fairly large wrists but I'm curious. And that's where the Focal would be juuuust right and if I could find a used one for the right price it just might work. I've got an uncle in the Pentagon... anyone know if there's a military discount on the Marathons? If so I may be able to post pics like Hammer!

What did you finally choose? If I can still chime in I think you should go with the Focal... Helluva watch IMO..... You'll be more than happy with that one
