I'm not specially into GMT watches as I rarely travel out of my time zone... But, this one cought my eye and will certainly lift the interest of many WIS here. The caliber 8500 is originally a little marvel in my opinion and this new GMT model gives an option for those who would need to track time in different timezones with a P.O on them wrist. I liked the look somehow of the blue/orange mix but a black/orange would certainly kick@ss. All pictures "stolen" from Oceanic time: Thanks to TLex for announcing this one! Opinions? http://oceanictime.blogspot.no/2013/04/omega-semaster-planet-ocean-gmt-1stlook.html

The watch is also presented on the Omega site. It seems like they only thought about a blue version right now. http://www.omegawatches.com/gents/seamaster/planet-ocean-gmt/23230442203001 Certainly due to it's connection to the Good Planet foundation who's dedicated to work for the environment and under water ecosystem. http://www.omegawatches.com/gents/product-presentations/seamaster-planet-ocean-goodplanet-gmt

I like it a lot although I would prefer it slightly bigger. Also, I think that for this watch, the He valve kinda spoils the looks of it. Maybe because there are no crown guards as such...

But I agree with you that the list price up to 7900$ is way too high for a mass produced watch of this kind... Even with the discount, I would not trigger for it. You have to remember that Omega's goal seems to be at grabbing a part of the "luxury" market from Rolex, who's already trying to push prices as far as they can before the demand fall. This is a vicious game where Rolex has a big throne builded by the most outrageous advertising budget in watch history which has to be paid back by the customer. All in all: More Omega tries to follow Rolex there, less Omega will be affordable.

Maybe because there are no crown guards as such... You are one of the MANY wis who's deceived by the manual Helium valve and I would not say that's it's my favorite either... The problem there with the new line with the 8500&derivative movements: Is that Omega still hold on the old P.O case design. Making this in-house line looking like the 2500..Eta variants line. A refreshing touch with automatic H valve would have been more than welcome and would certainly have boosted the sells. Omega don't seems to bother...
