Just had a great talk with the watchmaker who worked on my Hammy Khaki Aviation down in Clearwater, FL....................he gave me some interesting incite into the Val 7753 movement.  According to him, there is more than a simple "2 added jewels and different subdial placement".  He stated it was a much heartier, more robust movemnt using higher quality components...and that the wholesale cost on a Val 7753 was almost double that of a Val 7750.  When I told him what the watch had cost, he almost "had a cow" and told me that his wholesale cost on the Val 7753 movement is $451.00......and to think, I paid $15 more for my Hammy Kahaki Filed (Val 7750) Chrono than I did for the "Aviation"........do you think I got taken????....subtlelaugh.gifsubtlelaugh.gifsubtlelaugh.gifboy10.gif

You are not increasing the believability factor here.......I've visited 3 TJMaxx stores (one twice) since you told us this story.......

Actually, Doc....I can prove this one.  DP02SS, on WUS, found 2 Hamilton Khaki Aviation Chronographs in a TJ MAXX in Orlando after I had posted my experience of finding a Hamilton Khaki Filed Chronograph this summer.  (I, of course, had been alerted to the TJ MAXX "miracle" by the "Great One" himself - oagaspar!).  He very unselfishly told me he would pick it up and ship it to me if I wanted it.

Did I say no?..................I don't think so!!!!!!!!

And that's how the exchange with "the goon" started when he arrogantly, erroneously and emphatically posted that since TJ MAXX was not an Authorized Dealer, Hamilton would not honor the factory warranty....but....they do! coyote2.gif

Every TJ Maxx in Wisconsin is picked over by the Paxman .....If you are patient and if you are at the right store at the right time ...a steal is there to be had ..... TJ employees have no idea what the product is worth and if they hold onto a watch too long they BLOW it out......The buyers are different for each region, and some buyers seem to buy more watches in parts of the country

The 7750 and 7753 are basically the same movement with the exception of the placement of the subdial configuaration and date window...7750 being at the 12,6,9 and the 7753 at 3,6,9...but for some reason through a movement dealer like Ofrei the 7753 costs around $479. opposed to the 7750 at $279.?....as Ken stated...the 7750 is more commonly used...here is a pic of Glens (nrg)Hamilton Aviation 7753 T.J Maxx find for $499.....if you look hard and long enough Doc they are out there....my 7750. Hammy cost $299....I'm thinking of picking up the D.Mink diver Ken found at TJ's as my local one now has one on clearance for $369....the debate over the warranties started though when Pickle Puss over at WUS challenged my statement that Hammy would cover all warranties....Ken proved it!hand6.gif

Here is also an interesting thread we had here a little while ago about the Val.77xx movements with some great Pics hand6.gif..the reason I posted this link was to educate members about the movement in light of someone who was claiming his new Watch Label  had a Swiss Val. 77xx movement powering it verified by a known expert...which by the Pic I saw was obviously nothing more than a Asian copy...Ooooops!

That brings up a question for you guys.  Perhaps I am naive, possible, but I had never heard of Daniel Mink watches before my recent fruitless forays into TJMaxx stores.  They have a Chrono (VERY heavy) with what looks like a 7750 movement that had a list price attached of $2999 selling for $999 when I first visited.  Approx. 10 days later it was $800.  First, is this pricing typical at TJMaxx?  Second, is this a great watch or just a name on someone elses product?

There are a few D. Mink around with the Lemania 5100 too.  A reputable watch manufacture well tell you what type of movement is in there watches. Caution if they state high grade doesn't mean a frickin thing.  Here is an article link. for some reason the link disappeared.

See link below.
