I've read several postings where someone has written about buffing, polishing a watch and the use of jeweler's rouge. Could someone post a "How to" on this process? It would be nice to read a step-by-step description of how to polish and buff a watch without ruining it. I'd also like to see a picture or two of what you are using for a buffing wheel and how you have it set up. Thanks.

depends on what your trying to do. also what the watch is made of. lets assume its solid 316 stainless steel. you polish to take out swirls, and use compound to lightly cut the steel to take out light scratches. No big buffing wheel needed. I use a dremel, with different shaped cloth pads. Rouge is just one step in polishing, mainly the last you use. use a heavier cut compound 1st to flatten out the area then move to a finer grit then to rouge for the mirror finish. If your taking out a deep scratch, that requires wetsand paper starting at 800grit up to 2000 grit then to the polishing process. This takes experiance. I've been doing custom cars and bikes for over 15 years so doing a watch is easy.
