What kind of receiver do you guys like? I don't want a lot of BS on it cause it will be wasted. FM, CD and that's it. I'm trying to find the best 5.25" speakers. I'm not cutting any new holes in the car. LOL  Multi element 5.25" speakers are scare now. Everyone is pushing the larger component speakers. I think I may get soem Infinity Kappas. I keep going around in circles with receivers and always end up the Alpine on top. I don't mind spending money on quality speakers because I do not want to change them out for a long time. One thing I have noticed with the foam surrounds, used in some car speakers, is that they don't hold up. Also, certain cone materials really go south fast in a car especially in hot weather. Anybody have suggestions?

depends what one you are looking at.  in jag the alpine is the basic one and harmon kardon is the premium receiver.  just do not buy a blauphunck they are junk.  use google to search for a good price.  for house stereos i know where to go  .  look on audigon.com and see if you car stereos are there.  you can find great deals on demos there.

LOL I was thinking about HK, but, they are no longer making them. I settled on an Alpine system. I really do not want to modify the car to put a typical high system in.

BTW Audiogon is a great site for those who are looking for audio equipment. I have got a ton of stuff over there in the last several years. I wish someone would come up with a similar site for watches. They have, or used to have, an eBay type section to buy and sell stuff.
