I spend a lot of time online at bimmerforums .

Anyone else into BMWs?

Here is my car:

(I'm in the process of refinishing the garage right now...

You could say I've done some work to it ;)

Thanks to Woo for bringing this thread up again!

Yep oldskllo - love 'em. I have had BMs for over 25 years now. Current one is a 1996 540i LE - it was my avatar for a while. Chipped to 250 kilowatts, 4.0 liter V8 M60 motor, 6-speed manual. M5 suspension, wheels and brakes. Very fast with the 2 x 3" one-muffler pipes. Headers are standard. :)  There is a club here in Australia for LE owners - wanna link? I also do business in Malaysia, so I joined the Malaysian BMW forum too. Could probably remember a link if I look for it...

Just lemme know.

Others I have had (no longer have) include a 1973 2002 tii, a 323i, an old 528i, E34 520i, E34 530i, and a 5-speed E34 M5 3.8. The 540i LE is the pick of the bunch, though - it just does everything and comes back for more. One day - I will probably turn it into a competition car, but only when it reaches the end of its useful life as everyday transport. All of my cars get some form of "individualisation" - but I love the look of the dark tint out back and the lighter tint on the front windows on your 3 series. Looks like you put a lot of effort into it!

Yes sir - looking good. I didn't realise that the thread was so old - do you still have it? That is a heck of a garage, by the way!!

Cheers - IanM

Yep. I still have the car.

You have an impressive list of vehicles. I would love a 540 touring. hearteyes.gif

I am with you on that one! But there are very few 540 tourings in Australia. Germany also made an E34 M5 Touring - but we never got that one, sadly.

Only trouble in Australia is the cost of replacement parts - catalytic converters for my 540i LE (OEM) are $4000 (nearly the same in USD) EACH! And the V8 takes two of them!!

EDC III suspension is $2500 AUD per corner. Clutches here from the AD are $2000 plus fitting. The backing plate is additional...

Needless to say, I have found a good supplier from the USA where parts prices (including shipping) are significantly less. You guys in the US have got it pretty good!

Just read in a UK car magazine that the 2008/9 M3 is also available in a coupe/convertible - wouldn't that be a nice combination!!?? V8, convertible, BMW build quality - what a winner.

Go Bimmer! hand6.gif

yikes!! I always buy that kind of stuff on bimmerforums.com. It saves me a bundle. Shipping to Australia might be a little more but it should be way less than the $5000.

Yepper - absolutely correct.

Here is one I did earlier (2 years ago). It is an M5 with blue leather interior, and a set of Hartge wheels. It was brilliant - before the thief ran it into a tree... my silver 540i LE replaced it. A pity - it was a helluva car.

White looks so right on these BMs.

Enjoy your day!

Cheers - IanM

Let's see, I had Euro headlights with projectors and HID bulbs with upgraded Hello euro bulbs. Hello aftermarket sidemarker lights. Color matched bumper reflectors that were disabled, switching running lights to the Euro citylights. I had an intake, chip, cams, TT catback with hidden muffler tips. Full H&R coilovers, upper and lower front and back strut bars. Upgraded sway bars front and back. Upgraded brakes, wheels, tires, spacers. Euro smoked tail lights with rear fog light rewire. VW rubber floor mats, trunk mat. Euro black headliner. Euro silver dash trim kit. Double short shift kit. lightweight flywheel and upgraded clutch. Tinted windows. Probably a few other things I just can't remember anymore. I almost bought a Quaife LSD.

The car was like a go kart.
