On impulse I bought this Mako because I have never had or seen an Orient before.
I have read  about it on the forums and got curious, so here we gotoon1.gif

And some wristshots, it`s rather bigface4.gif

Don`t know if it`s a keeper though, the lume is pretty bad.
I find it odd that the lume is worse than the smaller mako crap.gif
The build quality is top and could compare with Seiko diver`s in the same price category.
I think it wears nicely and is comfortable despite it`s size
So if you can tolerate the  insuffficient lume I would reccomend it ThumbsUp02.gif

Nice one, Tom. What are the vital stats? Is it a 42mm? If lume isn't great, maybe don't wear it that much for night activities. Gives you an excuse to change watches and keep the others moving and beatingsubtlelaugh.gif. Wear the Mako in good healthhand6.gif

The lume isn`t that bad but the reference for me is that awesome lume on the Frankenmonster and nothing beats thatface4.gif
And yes I will happely change before the evening woohoo.gif

Its too bad they skimped on the lume with the new Mako. Bad move imho. Still a nice looking watch but without a decent lume job it may not warrant a spot in one's collection.

Does anyone know what a Parks re-lume job would cost ...then you would have the best of both worlds ...just a thought for a watch with such an attractive entry point

A good idea ThumbsUp02.gif I like the watch a lot so maybe it would be worth the extra money spent?

Just my opinion, Tom, but I myself wouldn't spend extra for lume for a watch. I need lume only when I sleep at night. But even then, I sleep with a small bedside lamp and 2 watches on -- 1 on each wrist. One is always with decent lume (nothing beats the Frankenmonster, I agree) and the other is something that needs some wrist movement to power it up.

The great dress watches have among the worst lumes you can ever find but they don't bother me at all even if I have to sleep with them on. If I need to check the time inside the moviehouse and I happen to wear a watch with weak lume, I just check my cellphonesubtlelaugh.gif.

Maybe I'd spend extra for sapphire glass, or an extra strap or maybe even spare pins.

Why does this seem unusual to me?? Two watches? You are truly a dedicated WIS.
