I got my first Spring Drive today, the Seiko Ananta Spring Drive GMT.  It is truly a mesmerizing piece.  Here are a few quick and dirty pictures:

Super Big Congrats on a Awesome Seiko!!! yourock.gif...I was just reading about these in WatchTime and how they use the same polishing method as used on Samurai swords and the rotor cut-outs were made to resemble sword sheaths....very cool watch, design and movement imho from what I have now seen and read about! perfect.gif

Thanks guys!  I've been blown away by this watch so far.  The Spring Drive movement really is something else.  Besides the glide motion hands, it just operates so smoothly and precisely (seemingly no slack in the gear train at all when setting time).  This watch is so new on the market I can't really say it's been a grail for me, but the Spring Drive has definitely been a "grail movement" for me, and the katana motif styling really speaks to me.  I worried a little bit that the watch may be like many high-end Japanese products in that it is flawless in execution but sterile, without emotion.  But I can safely say that each time I look at it, I get a stupid grin on my face.  So I guess that's enough emotion for me.smile8.gif

I truly hope I'm done with new acquisitions for a while (well, still got a Magalodon on order...).  This should tide me over for quite some time.

Here are a few better pics from the light box:

Dial is matte dark grey.  Gives off a nice sheen.

Notice all the sharp edges on the dial and hands.

Nicely decorated movement.

"Blade Polishing" notice the camera reflection.

This will probably become a fine scratch magnet....

Wrist shot.

Hiya GX !

There have only been a couple of Spring Drives on 3T that I can remember - yours and a another beautiful GMT... I haven't seen one "in the flesh" here in Ausralia, but I will certainly have alook now that I have seen your pefect Ananta. Like some of the other guys here - I have read about them, but DANG they look good, and the details elevate them above many competitors.

Thats it - consider it added to my "must have" list.

Itsa beauty, GX - enjoy and congratulations!
