William,

You are right pal. It appears that you did due diligence but something went wrong. Is the seller taking the stand that he holds no responsibility in the matter? What bonehead would ship a $500 let alone $5700 watch uninsured? From the look of the package it does appear that it was tampered with. I sure hope you get a favorable result.

Just to add something on Williams behalf from the get go on this purchase the communication was pathetic, William would send message after message & it would take days for him to respond blaming it on the Holidays & time differences from the US to Norway? Will did as much checking as any of us could have done & this guy had good reviews like great communication & fast shipping etc. like any of us would have done.

Will was helping me move a refrigerator today when the package arrived he opened it before we unloaded the refrigerator to a box of bubble wrapped used ceramic tiles & a used Armitron ladies watch! I'm not sure we will ever find out what really happened but lets think for a second if Customs are the culprits did they just happen to have those used tiles just sitting around & why put any sort of watch in the box, a thief is a thief what was the purpose of the watch? Like I said earlier we will probably never get to the bottom of this mess but one thing for sure William (watchdaddy1) is the victim here & shouldn't be chastised for making a wire transfer & believing what fellow watch folks posted which led to him following through with the transaction, JMO.........

The seller replied to William's post on WUS wanting to work it out and even brings up refund.
I'm very sorry William. It's horrible to deal with such issues. I hope it's not a dishonest seller and you guys work it out. The box looks like its been tempered with, it's not unheard of that either customs or PO/shipping company employees steal package contents. Maybe it's not the seller. Have you spoken to him recently since he posted on WUS?

So the seller didn't insure it?? That's unbelievable that he would not spend a few extra bucks on insurance for a $5700 watch! That's definitely not good practice for sure, I'd never do that.
Have you spoken to anyone about your options? Filed with the shipping company or PO?

My bank said sorry nothing they can do about it & I bank @ BofA

Postal service said he has to file a claim

& Brice he did insure it, but what does that do for me.

I posted this for the right purpose & to inquire results /options I may have if any.

Now on some other forums i belong too people r doing the blaming game, "maybe I'm the dishonest 1 here", maybe this, maybe that , I TRULY BELIEVE IT WAS HIM..I'm best friends w/ Bob aka warriorrider here on the above post, & he was w/ me & knows all the selling & saving I did for this purchase.

I also did all my due dilligence on the seller, because I purchase the seller 1st b4 anything & I was a little worried after sending the $$ bcuz it took him hours sometimes days to get back w/ me AFTER I HAD ALREADY WIRED THE $$.

Will here on our forum "the sheriff " said he was ok that he had purchased a watch from him, BUT THAT TOO WAS AFTER I HAD ALLREADY SENT THE $$$. because I was worried & asked Rolf if he knew him then WILL emaild me that he knew him too.

BOTTOM LINE IS I'M OUT ALOT OF $$ (@ least thats alot for me)

This is a hard pill to swallow William..if he insured the item and it goes missing...somebody has to cough up the value of the item...its my opinion that he should do the honorable thing and refund your money..and let him file a claim for the watch and get what he is owed from the shipping company.

if it was insured, and he honestly didn't rip you off as I assume he did not, then he needs to file the claim in order to receive the insurance money, which in turn he refunds to you... as I previously said, you needed to take the package to the PO immediately, shit I would have chased the carrier down,so that it was made clear within minutes that something was wrong.
....if you felt something was wrong after you sent him the funds, then is when you should have done a stop payment...I have stopped paypal payments when I haven't heard back an hour or more after making a deal and paying far less money with someone I am 1st time dealing with.
I don't believe anyone here chastised you, rather good advice from WIS who have been around for many years.

Very glad to hear it was insured William.   ...that is key.

Assuming the seller is on the up-and-up, he will be able to file a claim and receive a refund (which may take some time).  I'm holding out hope that this ends well, and not taking anything away from the fact that this does indeed suck...that is alot of $$.
