I suppose this is worthy of a new arrival thread, I have been lax in posting new arrivals...

Picked this up second hand from the forums, it was a great price for minor battle damage, only minor wear on the case and bracelet, I'll have it "as new" with only a little work, the bezel on the other hand might be more than I can handle...

I'm not sure it's worth three times as much as a Seiko Sumo but maybe thats because I have been on the hunt for a 42mm Breitling Superocean and I think the Breitling is much classier all the way around... Don't get me wrong it oozes uber Seiko and I REALLY like it...

I'm not sure what the insert is really made of, if I get brave I'll try to remove the insert and clean up the ding on the inside radius of the bezel so it's not binding on the insert at least. I think the insert is going to go to pieces when I try to remove it though.... It would be nice to get this one cleaned up a little and have a new bezel and insert in the box for a rainy day too...

Big congrats Chris!!! bravo.gif

A beauty for sure...and definitely one of my favorite Seikos. Looks sweet on that GGB/velcro combo too! thumbsup.gif

The MM300 has one of the most striking/beautiful looking bezels out there IMO, and primarily due to the unique construction. One thing to note (as far as I know) is that the MM300 bezel does not contain an insert, or at least is constructed in a way that makes separating the top layer from the rest of the bezel impossible. So a bezel replacement on the MM300 involves replacing the ENTIRE bezel as far as I know.

This is something to consider if the seller misrepresented this particular sample. It's a beauty, nonetheless, IMO...ding and all!

I haven't taken it off once since it arrived, I passed my mail lady on the way home the day it was supposed to be delivered and phoned her and then drove her down just to get it! Yes I have my mail lady's cell phone number and I bribe her often and well to keep the packages coming :)

Chris you are correct! I never even looked at the bezel construction, no the seller didn't misrepresent it either!

It appears to be a ceramic or enamel finish directly applied to the bezel and the markers are etched into the finish, I need to get a camera attachment for my microscope the etched markers look really cool under magnification!

Congrats! I like this model...
The price difference compared to the Sumo is certainly based on the movement and a better case construction.
The 8L35 is something else than the 6R15 inside the "Sumo.
