Lately I've been thinking it's about time I collect a couple of vintage chronos that I have always wanted before they get so scarce I have to pay a premium for them...
Here is one of them!

Picked this up from the forums in original condition with original boxes and paperwork.
Yesterday it spent the day in the ultrasonic spa getting 40 years of grime removed. Followed by a new crystal and caseback gasket and some grease on the original petrified chrono and crown gaskets...they will have to be replaced. Just a little touching up on the bracelet and it looks wearable. The case still needs a finish "reset" but I wanted to wear it!

It's keeping great time but since it's service history is unknown it will have to go in to someone more brave than I for a spit-n-polish on the movement!

Like a kid in a candy store I picked up a 6138-3002 the other day too, also original un-restored and its a one owner watch... pictures of it to follow once it's fit for photos...

thanks guys, I've always had an itch for these old seiko chrono's they are every bit as cool as I had imagined.

Crystal uses a rubber gasket, I think the bezel holds the crystal down when it's installed I've been afraid to check and see if it will fall out dog smile.gif

...pushers are held in by the movement ring so when you remove the ring the pushers come right out for easy access and cleaning. Just really well designed and small for a chrono at a normal size 11 or so...

Anyway I'm glad I finally added it to my collection!

Chris, as you probably know, my main area of horological interest is with vintage chronographs.  I find them fascinating.  Real little engineering marvels too!
That is an iconic vintage chrono.  Now go for the matching Citizen bullhead too!
Congrats and enjoy!thumbsup.gif

Congrats! Nice vintage: This bullhead system makes it also more comfortable on the wrist since the pushers don't dig the back of the handThumbsUp02.gif
