Well, really is not so much expensive to ha a really good watch for a reasonable amount, with us collectors the prblem is not quality, we know where, how and what to buy, the problem sometimes is quantity. We all have this beautiful "problem". The moment you start buying or trading watches you stop being a collector, from that moment you are a person who has a lot of watches.

I absolutlutely do not agree with that statement................the trading (and/or selling) of watches does not make you any less of a collector than someone who does not trade them.  I have art work that that I have collected for years that I have sold/traded when the timing and circumstance are right.

There are many valid reasons to sell or trade watches.  To take the position that that somehow makes you a person who is not a collector but merely an accumulator of watches (and perhaps I mis-read your statement) seems to me to be condescending and elitist!

Does looking for a bargain make you a "cheapskate"?

My last bargain was from Island Watch $78 for a Trias Pilot (Miyota move.).  That was a smoking deal to me and I really like the watch.  I had to spend some time around here in order to appreciate it.

A couple of weeks ago I won an auction for a lot of 4 G-Shocks-- instant G-Shock collection!
$92 shipped-- works out to $23 each!
Took a chance, since I couldn't be exactly sure which models they were from the pics, but it turns out these would easily sell for over $200 if sold seperately.

That's pretty cool...............everyone knows (I think) of my disdain for quartz watches, BUT, I'm thinking G-SHOCK could really change my mind...they seem really innovative!

My Last Bargain is Always My Next Watch..:P..and I understand what Ricardo was trying to get across as He states "We all have this Beautiful Problem" We can't wait for Our next purchase ...we are All hopelessly Addicted I consider Myself more of a "WIS-Watch Idiot Savant"...an Enthusiast..rather than a Collector, although I would consider  a Couple of in My Collection "Collectible"

I'm no great lover of quartz either (the twitchy second hand drives me nuts), but G-Shocks are a whole other animal. You shouldn't try comparing them to nice automatics or mechanicals-- it's like apples and oranges. It helps if you don't think of them as watches, but rather as multi-function digital timers (that just happen to be strapped to your wrist). Then they are pretty cool. I mean, the best are solar powered, atomic clock syncronizing, have multiple alarms, count down timer, stop watch, lunar phases, tidal graph, temperature, etc. and can survive a 25 story drop! The classier ones are all metal with metal bands whose individual links are held not by pins but by small spring bars!
