Man that's too tough to pick just one.

All time band would have to be The Replacements.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Replacements

I have liked these bands/artists for years.

Beck

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beck

Wilco

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilco

The Lemonheads

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lemonheads

Big Star

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Star_(band)

at at the bedrock:

The Grateful Dead

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grateful_dead

Bob Dylan

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_dylan

Neil Young

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neil_young

Truth be told. I love music and will listen to almost anything and do. All the artists mentioned are great although I can't say I am to familiar with some of the Death Metal.

I would have to say my fav is KISS.  They were the first concert I ever went to.  I was 9 years old.  My parents took me.  It was the Love Gun tour in 1978 in Pittsburgh at the Civic Arena.  I remember it like yesterday.  Peter Criss passed out.  Then got to see them again in 96 and 97 when the original bunch were back together.  It was pretty cool, at the Pittsburge show, Metallica showed up and watched the concert from the sound engineeers stage.

Other  favs are Scorpions, Metallica, Def Leppard, BTO, Iron Maiden, Iron Butterfly, Judas Priest, Beatles, Johnny Cash, Van Halen (with DLR), Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Dio, Steppenwolf, White Zombie, Queen, Coney Hatch, Aldo Nova, Billy Thorpe, Disturbed, Korn, Manson, Saliva, Beastie Boys, 3 Days Grace, Puddle of Mud, Stone Temple Pilots, Bullet Boys, Nirvana, Alison Krause, Ozzy, Kid Rock, Skynard, Bad Company, Foreigner, Quiet Riot, Autograph, Drowning Pool, Blue Oyster Cult, Billy Squire, Donnie Iris,  Alice In Chains, The Eagles,  Three Dog Night, The Hollies, Cliff Richard, old Elton John stuff, Gren Jello, Helmet, Buckcherry, Ted Nugent, Damn Yankees, Motley Crue,  Joe Satriani, living Color,  AC/DC, Triumph, Loverboy, 3 doors down, Dokken, ELO, Faith no More, Golden Earring, Hinder, Driving And Crying, Live, Leanne Rimes, Lenny Kravits, Megadeath,  Nickelback, Nine Inch Nails, Queensryche, Ratt, Seether, Seven Mary Three, Four Horsemen,Whitesnake, Yes, ZZ Top, Phil Collins, Styx,  The Cars,  REO Speedwagon,  Sammy Hagar, Red Rider, Guns N Roses, Sweet, And many, many more that I cant think of right now.

I'm pretty huge into music (it was my passion and hobby for, oh, 20 years before I ever owned a mechanical watch!).  So rather than list favorite bands, here's the most recent shuffle that came up on my Ipod.  Granted, there's over 20,000 songs on the Ipod, but this should  give an idea of some of the music that I like:

She's Not There -- Zombies (comp)
Aurora Borealis -- Meat Puppets (Meat Puppets II)
Mohammed's Radio -- Warren Zevon (comp)
Something's Gotta Give -- Velvet Crush (Teenage Symphonies To God)
Ask For Janice -- Beastie Boys (Paul's Boutique)
Radio -- The Avanlanches (Since I Left You)
A Single Sky -- Dave Douglas (Strange Liberation)
A Deed For Dolphy -- Woody Shaw (Blackstone Legacy)
Look Both Ways (Reprise) -- Bobby Previte (Claude's Late Morning)
I am a Lonesome Hobo -- Bob Dylan (John Wesley Harding)
Phenomenal Cat -- The Kinks (Village Green Preservation Society)
Life Goes Off -- Jim O'Rourke (Insignificance)
Drifting Petals -- Ralph Towner (Solstice)
Harpua -- Phish (7.16.94 -- Sugarbush)
Tweezer Reprise -- Phish (5.7.94 -- Dallas)
One Over The Eight -- Soft Machine (Softs)
Crazy About You -- Whiskeytown (Pneumonia)
Three Flowers -- McCoy Tyner (Today and Tomorrow)
You're So Great -- Blur (st)
Open Country Joy -- Mahavishnu Orchestra (Birds Of Fire)
Mean Woman Blues -- Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen (Deep In The Heart Of Texas)
Planets: Venus -- Holst (Gardiner)
Quivering With Speed -- Matthew Shipp (Piano Vortex)
People Take Pictures Of Each Other -- Kinks (Village Green Preservation Society)
Lot 105 -- Blur (Parklife)
Aberinkula -- Mars Volta (Bedlam In Goliath)
Folsom Prison Blues -- Johnny Cash (Live At San Quentin)
Brown Sugar -- Rolling Stones (Sticky Fingers)
Sincerity -- Gordon Beck (Gyroscope)
I Wished On The Moon -- Art Pepper (Intensity)
Satin Doll -- McCoy Tyner (Double Trios)
Deep -- Parliament (Motor Booty Affair)
Nuclear Bomb -- Meat Beat Manifesto (Subliminal Sandwich)
Cold Cold Cold -- Little Feat (Sailin' Shoes)
Okonkole Y Trompa -- Jaco Pastorius (st)
So Says I -- The Shins (Chutes Too Narrow)
I Don't Wanna Be Kissed (By Anyone But You) -- Miles Davis (Miles Ahead)
In Ewigkeit -- Cluster (Sowiesoso)
Spider In The Snow -- The Dismemberment Plan (Emergency & I)
Anyway -- Genesis (Lamb Lies Down On Broadway)
Truvas Rumba -- Mats/Morgan band (Heat Beats Live)
Short Story -- Joe Henderson (In & Out)
All The Critics Love U In New York -- Prince (1999)
