Excuse my cognitive dissonance... I was thinking of the famed photo-journalist, Jim Marshall.

Funny Jim Martin story... I was working the parking lot at Shoreline Amphitheatre for a big package show which had FNM on the bill. Either a Lollapalooza or Live 105 BFD. This was shortly after Jim Martin left the band. At any rate a little Saturn puled in the lot. I leaned it to take the parking money and found Jim Martin in the back seat. I felt bad for him arriving to the show like one of the masses. So I reached in, shook his hand and told him the parking was on me. It was the least I could do.

Many have expressed interest in bands I feature on my YouTube channel. There are videos from The 'Mats, FNM, The Police and more. You can view them here: http://www.youtube.com/user/paxman1965

Pax, when did you work for BGP?? I worked a couple of seasons back in my college days, mostly at the Greek Theater and the Oakland Coliseum.

We were recruited by Molly and company from CSUH Water Polo team, because we were big and ugly.

I have a good friend who is a General Manager at Shoreline and still upgrades us on shows.

I remember Bill coming up to my friend at shoreline and telling him off, because he had expressed his opionion that Stevie Nicks was sounding horrible...goofy

Small world of course.

I was with BGP from 1990 to 1997. I was a yellow coat at Shoreline. I'm assuming you were a blue coat. We had lots of fun in those lots and then got in for the shows and unlike the blue coats we could actually face the stage.

Pretty freaky to be in the middle of thousands of raging party people with thousands of dollars in a bag. There were collecting fat bank on the parking. Of all the crowds I worked I only felt fear from the Parrot Heads. I tell you, Deadheads, Metallica fans, Lollapalooza fans, Ozz-fest were all tame compared to the Parrot Heads!toon1.gif

Had some good times and saw a butt load of great shows... and some not so great. Always enjoyed the Greek as a venue and had some WAY OUT times at Oakland Coliseum.yourock.gif

I was a Blue Coat and mostly worked Back Stage in the hospitality areas and on stage.  Did work Back Stage keeping the women out and escorting to the limo's.

Got free food because we knew the caterers for some reason.  Not sure why we got the beter assignments.

Got to meet many of the bands and the celebrity hanger ons back stage.

Amnesty International, Pink Floyd...

Escorted/Carried Bryan Ferry to his Limo....

Was on stage for the Bowie Glass Spider at SJ, talking with the dancers and performers.

I agree the Parrot Heads are drunk middle aged snobs...I been to a couple with friends but I know what a all day drunk is like and 70 % of them were just that.

Back in those days things were abit safer, and today I would be worried about getting mugged by the concert goers!!

I guess getting a real job has it benefits.

And I love OB...was just watching their last concert on DVD...last week!!

Who do you want to be?

Only a Lad

I like more of their mosh pit songs with the screaming and up tempo.

The ballads are fine and the movie stuff are nice.

There are a few songs that are all Danny College Radio songs that are his like Little Piggy.

But Avila and Hernandez are my favorites....

I love finding their stuff on unused vinyl.  Ameoba's..... Rasputins

Does fire coming out of their mouths mean they sound great?

I know the RHCP had their fire helmets and that made them sound great. toon1.gif

all time favorite lead singers would be Jim Morrison/Doors....Roger Daultry/The Who and from an album that not everyone has would be Rod Stewart when he got his break with the Jeff Beck Group/Truth.....but this list could go on for pages!....growing up in Cleveland I was lucky enough to see every major singer/band that came through during the 60's and 70's....and everyone came to the Rock capitol! party.gif

That's funny, O. Many are repulsed by what Rod Stewart turned into but like you I really love his singing with the Jeff Beck Group and Faces.
