we were told never to name a Blue Heeler "Blue" so the search is on....I can say this dog is very brave and does some stuff I have never seen a 6 week old pup attempt...he was a rescue and shoudn't even be away from the litter at this early an age but he is fearless...I was thinking "Barri" for the Great Barrier Reef

Go with your gut. That's how I've named almost every dog I've had. It may take a week, but You'll know it when you find it.

Hi O!

Missed this yesterday. Yep - I was asleep . Then gym this morning and only just got to work now to log in. I PM'd you a moment ago and then came to this thread.

There are so many "Aussie" names, a few appropriate ones of which might be:

Aussie / Ossie

Cobber

Max

China (don't ask why - but its like "me old China" meaning "my old friend" and still very popular here...)

Any character ever played by Mel Gibson ;) (including Braveheart!)

Einstein

Sunshine

Buddy

Mate

Deefer (get it - D for "Dog") ....

Maloo (like a desert bushland in Australia)

Tuffnut (for obvious reasons)

Strife (as in trouble and strife)

one out of left field that some friends have called their dogs - "Crikey" :)

and so many more.

You know, it is only an Australian superstition not to call your dog blue - but somehow, I think that "Blue" or "Bluey" seems to suit yours!

Sorry for the time zone based delay in responding! No offence meant.

The pup is beautiful, cute and everything others have said. It is also a fiercely loyal breed, and its going to make your family proud, frustrated, happy, sad and just plain thrilled to be a part of its life. As Scott said, though - remember to keep it busy and you will save a lot of furniture. Cheers good sir. Congratulations and give the pup a pat on the head for me.

That sure is a nice looking dog!

IanM
