Got a gran-grandfather who died there:
After the long battle of Verdun(feb 21th to dec 18th 1916) French soldiers are taking a rest in a destroyed village. Around 300 000 lifes was lost. 163 000 on the French side.

The Germans capitulated with the Allies: Annonced to this soldiers at 11 am. 11th November 1918.

This war been a real butchery for every nations who was in it: Let's hope nobody forget that.

Indeed most sincere thankyou.gif to all of you vets across the world. We don't know how good we have it here in this awesome country, enjoying such freedom and living the dream!:) also thank you to us vets from coming to help my home country during the war vs Germans and helping end such atrocities and suffering! My gd dads both fought WWII and were prisonners of the Germans. I heard some
amazing stories about the war and French "resistance" and the arrival of the US troops!! You guysyourock.gif, you are heroes!
Thank you.

When I was born in 1944, my Dad's first cousin, Edgel was in a Japanese concentration camp in the Philippines and his brother in law, Ray was in a German concentration camp in Belgium; thus my name. Happily, both made it home safely but they told tales of the thousands who didn't and of the deprivations they suffered while imprisoned. All this makes me very proud of the heritage of my namesakes.
Edgel Ray Alley, CPO USNR

As a P.S., The Vietnam war was just ramping up when I got an early out from active duty in 1965 to enroll at Ohio State, so I did not have to serve in that conflict. I honor all who did serve there and I am thankful I did not. Those who falsely claim to have been there at that time dishonor all those who sacrificed so much there.

I just had the pleasure of publicly thanking one of my colleagues here at work for his service in Vietnam where he was a combat medic. Most of the youngsters working here seemed a little amazed but then they had that light bulb moment and my colleague got a heaping of thanks from everyone.

I took him to my office and shared Ken's link:

Needless to say it was somewhat emotional and we shared a man hug and he thanked me for thanking him.

PAX...thank you for doing that.  You don't have any idea how much it means after so many years of suffering.  And if you would approach your friend one more time and give him my personal thanks...Combat Medics are the bravest of the brave...they go into battle armed only with bandages, morphine and skill.  They are always the most exposed element on the battlefield as they go from soldier to soldier attempting to both save and sooth.  Every soldier they lose is personal to them.  To many, your friend's face and the sound of his voice was the last experience they had in this life...he is a true American Hero!
