Looks like I will be flying out to Vegas again after new years.  I will be driving from vegas to south fl.  Looks like I will be taking I40 from vegas.  Does anyone know how far off I40 that glass walkway over the grand canyon is?  I would like to check it out while in the vicinity.  May even take route 66 for a while to see the sights.

Hey Scott not sure how far a drive it is from from Vegas, but if you are in the vicinity or even if you have to go out of your way it is more than worth it to check it out....the Grand Canyon is one of a few things I've experienced that no matter what pictures or movies you see it can not be matched in person....the other two are 30 - 40 foot waves on the North Shore of Oahu and the glaciers of Iceland....pics do not do them justice

Directions from Las Vegas (121 miles):
Take U.S. Highway 93 south to Hoover Dam
Continue south to the Dolan Springs/Meadview City/Pierce Ferry exit
(between mile marker 41 & 42)
Turn left and follow Pierce Ferry Rd. to Diamond Bar Rd. (mile marker 29)
Turn right at the sign and stay on Diamond Bar Rd. to Grand Canyon West

What are your ticket prices?
There are two fees you will encounter when visiting the Skywalk. Visitors will be required to purchase an entry fee into Grand Canyon West and if visitors choose to experience the Skywalk, an additional fee will be required:

Grand Canyon West "Legacy", (Entrance fee to Grand Canyon West): The adult rate for the Legacy Pass is $40.95 per person. This gives you access to any of the points of interest listed below as well as a hop-on / hop-off shuttle that travels to each location daily every 10-15 minutes.
Skywalk Admission fee (Admission onto the Skywalk): Admission onto the Skywalk is $29.95 per person. (Taxes apply)

People I work with went out on the the walk, while the view was great, they said it was not worth the $70.00 per person fee.

Thanks Chick.  $70 per person is pretty expensive.  Guess its because its on a reservation.  I have been to the new river gorge and at about 900 feet scared the bejesus out of me.  I can just imagine looking down 4000 feet to the bottom of the canyon.

I40 is a great ride in itself. If you are heading to the Canyon from I40, I thinkk its about an hour, but my memoriy is not the best... may be it felt like an hour.:D

We did the trip a couple of years ago, did the Skywalk was IMO not worth the price.

We ended up staying at the Grand Canyon Village and got to the Cayon at sunset which adds a whole other element of amazing.

We also took a ride over the Canyon.

Scott, Route 66 runs right through Tulsa and that's where I live. If you decide to go that way give me a shout and maybe we can coordinate a link up. Also, I-40 is about an hour or so south of me, so same thing goes.
