So this Friday, our family is hitting the road to sunny Florida where we rented a house in St Pete for 2 weekshappy guy.gif. We are all excited as we have never been there and started trying out new places(focusing on Florida for now) each our vacation after renting the same houses in Surfside(Myrtle), SC for 10+ years. We’ve done Clearwater Beach and Palm Coast the last 2 vaca.

It’ll be a well deserved & much needed vaca as work has been insane with the BofA/ML mergerhammer.gif I have been working on among many other things! I am drained and burned out. So looking forward to chilling, playing with the kids, sleeping in…Thumbsup3.gif No stress, meetings, conf calls… We found a small house recently refurnished with a pool, hot tub and grill in the back! cool.gif Kids picked it!

So we’ll be spending a lot of time at the beach and pool side. I am hoping to rent jet skis and a boat one day and maybe go to nearby islands if possible (don’t know the area at all). I am also taking my mountain bike.

SO fellow WIS, I would also like to check out the area for activities so I was wondering if any of you had any suggestions on what is worth doing/seeing/visiting in or near St Pete. I really don’t want to drive a lot on vaca, so nearby activities preferred and we are taking our dogs so can’t leave them alone too long. It also needs to be suitable stuff for 5, 10 and 12 yr olds.

Finally the WIS question… I need to select a few watches to take with me. It should be easier now since my collection is drastically reduced to 11 watches ( and pending 4 preorders). I am thinking of taking 4 only in my Benarus travel roll. So here’s my current collection:

OMEGA Seamaster 2254 & Ti 2232.80, DOXA 5000T Pro & 750T Sharkhunter, Breitling Jupiter Pilot, Hamilton Tachymiler, Oris TT1, Benarus GMT Worldiver ETA #50, Boschett CD1 #29, Swatch Irony Retrograde, Invicta PD 4508 CF

So knowing where I am going and what I’ll be doing (plus a few dinners out and Margaritas a few nights subtlelaugh.gif), I was curious which you would select to help me decide! J

I'm thinking the Boschett on Rubber would be the ultimate beach watch!ThumbsUp02.gif

Thank you for reading,
Brice

good call, the 750T SHarky is definitely coming along :) and on the rubber as it is easier (and won't risk scratching the bracelet) to go to the beach, ride jet ski, play with the kids...

Brice... I have to agree with Jeff, the Doxa's would be good all around choice.

Brice...You are going to love the St. Pete Beach area...I have not stayed directly at St. Pete Beach, but when are kids were younger (3 & 5 years old...they are now 8 & 10), we stayed at a boutique inn/condo right on the beach in the Redington Shores area (which is just a little up Gulf Blvd road from St. Pete Beach).  The setup there was literally step out onto the patio and the beach was right there.

That vacation was our first all beach vacation with both kids, so the kids went absolutely gaga for the ocean, sand, beach experience.  That area was also very layed back IMO (St. Pete Beach should be similar?), which was just what we were looking for with the kiddos.

The water and beach were just perfect at Redington Beach (I'm assuming this area is far enough away from all the gulf oil spill stuff that you will see no impact currently?).

For beach/sand duty, I think your Boschett Cave Dweller would be perfect (all brushed with no polished finishes to get scratched on the sand and banging around).  The Doxa Sharky will also be a great one to bring, but I don't know how that highly polished bezel will do if your really getting crazy in the sand...hey, maybe you like a little wabi on your timepieces...adds character IMO.  The Doxa 5000T would be great too, but I noticed you are selling that beauty!!!mistake.gif

I'd probably leave your leather straped pieces at home, and consider taking one of the Omegas for those great dinners out with the family.

Thanks Chris! Sounds like you should go back to the Redington ardea buddy from the way you speak of itk, your fmaily loved it! They'd love yuou forever i fyou booked a surprise beach vaca there againsponge bob.gif

We were in Clear Water for Spring break 09 and the beach was awesome there! I expect the water and sand will be just as beautiful in St Pete. I have great memories of a vaca in Fort Meyers with my wife many years ago... before we were marriedhomerthinks.gif!

Agreed, my thoughts exactly on the Boschett b3eing the perfect watch to wear when we'll hit the beach. I can wear the Doxa when doing activities around the area or in the pool, boating but don't want to wear it when playing in the sand.

So I am definitely taking a SMP or 2 or 3oh my.gif I cannot decide which to pickhammer.gif

So far I am thinking

CD1

Sharky

SMP Bond

are definitely making the trip... do I take the Ti SMP? 2254 in addition? I considered the oris but changed my mind.

And I have a little something on the way I got off the sales forum I wil take if it lands before I leavesubtlelaugh.gif

Whatever I don't take will most likely end up in my safe at the bank for two weeks.
