Here's my setup in my computer room. Nothing too fancy. The sad thing about my setup is all I really need is one computer to surf the web and 3T, but I need everything else to sort all the BS data from ShopNBC, Eyal and YKW!!

Where'd everybody go? Is David Mermelstein on shopnbc and everyone rushed to the phone to buy his "deal of a lifetime" watch? :D:D

hehehe!     Hey, don't you guys think it a little peculiar that Apple has worked so hard to get Bill's OS to run efficiently on their machine and BG and the PC manufactures could care less about vice-versa?  Could it be because Apple/Mac has, comparativley, so little software available, or that PC simply "ate Apple alive" in the competitive world of business applications?

Actually, have nothing against Apple.........just never learned to use one because they were becoming extinct in the business world!  They may certainly be better.......maybe they can get together with Sony and run BetaMax on it! :D:D:D

I'm surprised it took you that long to weigh in Ken!  I have a small home recording studio.  Apple has all the industry leading software that pc's have, and some that they don't.  Honestly, I just like not worrying about viruses and spyware.  And, I don't have to buy any virus protection software.  I know the typical pc argument is that there aren't enough Mac's to warrant someone building a virus.  Truth be told, anyone with a little bit of gumption can get a copy of visual basic and write a virus for Windows.  The Mac OS is very complex, there just aren't alot of hardcore coders out there who want to go throught the hassle of building a virus for the Mac.  It's waaaay easier to infect a windows box.

KEC, let's set the record straight here. I don't believe Apple has ever tried to "work so hard" to get $$Bills OS to run on their computers. The program I am currently using to run Windows XP on my Mac was originally designed and sold by Connectix. Then $$Bills company bought it and now it is a Micro$oft product. Apple has/had nothing to do with it. And FWIW, since Micro$oft bought the product and re-did it, it now runs much slower and is a bigger, fatter program.

On the new Intel based Mac's, it was inevitable you envious PC users would want to finally be able to run Windows on a cool designed Mac computer. So, if I'm Apple - should I let Micro$oft come out with a fix to enable (your fav word :D ) Windows to run on the Intel Macs? Or, should Apple do it. And, do it right so it works correctly. HMMmmmm. I think Apple made the right decision.

A friend of mine at work pointed out how easy it is to get a Mac guy upset.  He's right.  I wonder, why do you think it is that Mac users are so passionate about their computers, while pc users don't seem to be?

Because they have to justify the inordinate price difference..............in both hardware and software costs! :D:D:D

HUH!??? Software costs? R U Kidding? A Retail packaged copy of Windows XP Pro will cost you about $300 ($309.99 at CDW). Mac OS10 Tiger Retail package costs $129 from the APPLE store. Student/Teacher versions of Office 2004 for Mac costs $149.95 at Retail. About the same as the Windows version. Adobe PhotoShop for Mac and Windows - Same price. Mac's iWork costs $79 at Retail vs. Microsoft Works 8 at $49.95 Retail. Ok, ya got one. Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac vs. Microsof Office Standard for PC = about the same pricing.

When it comes to hardware, well there is a difference. I can't deny it. But then, there isn't a PC box on the consumer market that looks as well engineered and designed inside and out as a Mac G-5 computer. Does my Corum Romulus watch keep better time than my big honking Russian jobs I've been buying lately? NO! But, you pay more for it, for the design, quality, and everything else that makes someone pay more money for something that does basically the same thing another product will do for a lot less.

Your friend is pretty much correct. Mac people can be a real pain. I used to be on the other side of the fence. I USED to be the one making all the comments like Mr. Ken C. I used PC's for quite a number of years before finally trying a Mac. I learned DOS, Windows 95, 98, 98SE, 2000, etc. I skipped ME, it was terrible. Then one day I sucked it up and bought a G-3 beige Mac with OS 8.5 (I think). It was amazing. No virus attacks. No system failures. No problems installing new hardware or software. No problems getting on the Internet. NO PROBLEMS PERIOD. And, it has been that way ever since. I'm on my 4th Mac system now, and still zero problems. Never virus, a worm, nothing. My computer just works every day. It has crashed maybe twice since I got it a year and a half ago.

All my friends with PC's still call me for help with all of their problems. And, they do have problems. I just have to bite my tongue. Switching is something more people should try.
