Guys & Gals,

I am back after struggling to get rid of some Malwares!!! There are a few of them and they are known as SpyFalcon, SpyAxe, SpyQuake.....etc. I was hit with SpyFalcon which was installed into my PC by itself! I did not know how it managed to infiltrate into my PC!!! I had SpyBot, Ad-aware and AVG Anti-virus, but all could not detect it even though I uninstalled it using the Add/Remove Program.

I mean it was unistalled but there were so parasite files or folders that it came with. On my in tray, there were always a prompt telling me that my PC is infected and need to get certain softwares to get rid of it. I did not know how the hell it went into the in tray and in my Start up Menu. I went to "msconfig" and could not see that too! There were also pop ups from CASINOS, GAMES, to.....XXX sites! :X:X:X Not only that, my Internet Explorer homepage was locked!!! It was seen in the address bar: "about:balnk" and later became http://www.spydefender.com (DO NOT CLICK on that link)!!!

So in the end I went to post a thread in http://www.castlecops.com which I HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to all if anyone is it with PC problems. However, due to the MASSIVE posts, my post was not answered. :(However, I began to read up posts of others who had the same problems as me. And it took me 2 FULL days to get rid of it and another half a day to do some restore backup!!! There was no one helping me as I had no choice but to do a trial and error instead of calling in the PC repairman in the last resort!

I am glad that this Spyware nightmare was all over!!! Oh I forgot to mention, these latest spywares were so smart as they were not identified by the anti-spyware softwares as jun/spy/ad wares or softwares, they just find their way into your PCs!!!

If anyone is hit with the similar problem, please feel free to email me as I might be able to help you. It is too tedious to write EVERYTHING in a thread here!!!

So I am back and posting threads and pics again!!!:):):)

That kind of thing scares the crap out of me! I don't worry too much about myself downloading anything by accident, and my wife is pretty cautious, but you never really know anymore!

I'll just keep my fingers crossed, and glad to hear you are up and running. Take care of the little one.

Take care,

David

Oscar, for digital pics, it is better to download your pics via a card reader. In this way, first your camera is safe as it is not connected to your PC in case of hackers or virus strikes. Also it SAVE a lot of your camera battery too!!!

Guys for PC security, I had Norton Internet Security but it was expired a couple months ago! :( I highly recommend for one to have Internet Security in which you download anything, you will be asked first. Norton Internet Security is a paid software, for those who want a FREE software, there is ZONEALARM. Just type "ZONEALARM" in google and you can find its free download site. A site that I know which has ZONEALARM free down is http://www.download.com which is by CNET!

Oscar  I was thinking about your problem. Since you can download from other camera software, why not the old Program? Btw what is your PC OS? WinXP?

Also you might like to delete all the images in your SD and REFORMAT IT. Maybe it might just work. ;)

And remember to have Firewall if you have the software. I know it is quite cumbersome and "annoying" as a prompt window will pop up everytime you download something from the net. But it acts as a safety measure too as unwanted spywares or softwares can't not download themselves if you have a firewall.
