....the FOREVER TORCHLIGHT. Rick and all, how many of you have the FOREVER TORCHLIGHT as seen on US TV? Cos I am tempted to get a LOT of 10 from ebay for about $15-20. Is this torchlight usable? I mean I know it is not so bright compared to normal torchlight, but is it usable with at least a decent brightness? TIA. Last edited on Sun Jul 9th, 2006 08:25 am by watchboy |

Yes and Yes it shows a bright blued type of light much like on some of the newer cars. As you know you have to shake it at least 40-50 times. I dont remember how much I paid for mine .

Just make sure they are the LED ones and not the older that run on std. incandescent light bulbs.

The first version used std. light builds that are not as efficient as the LED and were not bright for long. The LED uses about half the power to create the same light, due to the efficiency by not waisting a lot of energy in producing the heat of an incandescent.

The one thatI have has the LED and gives off a WHITE WHITE lite. The only way that I can take a pic of it would be to tape the buttton down because it doesnt come on unless you hold the button.

Hi Jackie, Mine has an on/off button! It's an LED version, it definitely doesn't light up as bright as a regular flashlight! But it serves it purpose to provide enough light to look for things, go down stairways, etc. LED's do not burn out, do not shatter when dropped, the units are waterproof. They are light because it doesn't use batteries. The only problem is if your wrist becomes tired after shaking up and down to get a sufficient charge! Actually, with my arthritis, it hurts! My 2 cents! To be able to buy a lot of 10 LED flashlights for about $20, sounds like a great deal, if it's true! http://www.foreverled.homestead.com/deluxled.html Barton Last edited on Mon Jul 10th, 2006 05:49 pm by mkyuncle |

Here's a comparison of similar flashlights. http://www.flashlightreviews.com/reviews/ait_nightstar_rs.htm I have the Nightstar CS. I think the brightness is nowhere near conventional flashlights but is ok for an emergency light. I actually used it for camping once and besides having to shake it frequently, it wasn't bad for using in the dark. One thing to keep in mind is that these flashlights use pretty strong magnets so you need to make sure they aren't near things sensitive to magnets, like electronic hardware and some watches!
