Well, they did help save our American butts in the Revolutionary War. Of course that was before the french battle cry became: "We surrender!" every time they saw a German at the border, requiring the Americans and Brits to save their french butts twice in one century!
Oh, and let's not forget the bang up job they did with that little Vietnam
problem.
