SKIP ....you are correct in that Ken Griff Jr belongs back in Seattle .....it would be fitting and there he could DH and stay healthy .....if he did that he could mabey get to 700 .... If Randy Johnson could stay healthy it would be cool  if he returned as well as A-rod ..... baseball would benifit .... as far as Bonds is concerned he can have his day now ...because later on he is going down ......the debate will be about if his records should be erased from the recordbook .....(which they wont)

The use of steroids constitutes cheating.

I will add a congratulations to Mr. Bonds as I still believe in the Innocent until PROVEN guilty thought process. I am not a fan of Bonds, just a fan of the game. In fact I heckled him for a few years as a regular in the left field stands at the old Busch Stadium in St. Louis. He wasn't the best defensive fielder. Even have a ball he tossed to me after catching the fly ball while telling me to ki$$ hi$ a$$ one day while he was still with the Pirates. I tried like hell to get him to autograph the ball after the game but couldn't get to him. Wanted him to sign it Ki$$ My A$$ - Barry Bonds. The Hall of Fame is built by those that found an edge in their time and exploited it. Read and Ye Shall Learn.  I still love the game though. Nothing happening in baseball that don't happen in any other professional sports.

I also believe in innocent untill proven guilty but we are talking about ethics not criminal violations so its all a matter of opinion ..... I agree with you about it is stupid to think there is no steroids in football for example .....I just never liked Bonds but I also agree with you in that he deserves some congrats

I'm a lifetime San Francisco Giants fan and even I think Bonds cheated, but to me that does not alter the fact that he set the HR record, which I do not feel is tainted.  It is easy to say a certain player was the best in their era, but it is not possible to compare players from the past with contemporary players.  Babe Ruth, Willie Mays - they can be said to be the best baseball players of their time, but in the roids charged era from the late 90's to a couple years ago, who is to say that juiced pitchers were not offering up those same pitches Barry hit into the bleachers? What about all the strikes Barry never saw because they intentionally walked him 200 times a year?  Or the fact that AT&T park is notoriously difficult for home runs from left handed power hitters?  Of all the homeruns out to right field and into the Bay, the majority of them have been hit by Bonds (even counting all other players combined).  So, I doubt any fair comparison can ever be made.  People can hate all they want, but its an extraordinary achievement that will likely stand for a shorter time than Aaron's record did before someone else (like A-Rod) eclipses it.

It wasn't until the record chase began and stories started to appear that I realized what a class act and gentleman Hank Aaron is.  He has one thing that Bonds doesn't -- a World Series ring.

Here here!!! Bonds exhibits none of these characteristics. I don't deny he's got the record, but I question his value as a representative of MLB.

You can say I am a playa' hata but Bonds is a juiced a-hole who never gave a damn for his teammates or the fans. A complete jerk off imo!! I am certain he will never get his just rewards and will truly be made of teflon but in his heart of hearts he knows who and what he is...

From the viewpoint of a Giants fan, my opinion is that the statement that Bonds doesn't care about his team or his fans isn't quite true.  I've never heard him say anything bad about his teammates or the fans.  There is the occasional comment about the hounding press, but then they do follow the guy around and harrass him (the exchanges between Bonds and Pedro Gomez are particularly amusing).  As for not caring about his teammates, what would constitute as "caring?"  Playing every game?  The guy is 43 years old, and plays in 75% of the games in the season.  Name another 43 y.o. in MLB who plays every single game.  Barry is not perfect by a long shot - he's a drama queen and way overpaid (hey, he fills the seats at ATT Park), but the way people blindly believe the shadow that the media has cast on the guy is just catering to what the media wants - attention - even if the story is greatly exaggerated.  Just my 2 cents, as someone who has watched every single Giants game since Bonds joined the team.  I think unless someone has done something bad to you personally, its not right to go around calling the guy an a-hole.

It's no easy feat to hit a ball out of the park at any level let alone the Bigs!....a ball coming at you at 90 +mph or a breaking ball aimed at your head is something most of us have never seen and then to hit it 435ft...well that's just amazing at 43yrs. old imho.....756 Hr's ...WOW...I never thought I would see the HR record broken again in my lifetime and regardless of what the media or anyone else feels about Bonds you still have to be able to see the ball and then hit it over the fence! His speech yesterday was heartfelt and when he spoke of his Dad a real class act ....I felt him!....Congrat's to Barry who is now looking at moving up the RBI ladder where he sit's at #4 all time...another huge recordhand6.gif

Eric you need only look at the Giants clubhouse where Barry rests in his private recliner or his "fantastic" relationships with his former team mates like Jeff Kent to see Bonds is out for himself and no one else. and no I never met him personally, but was a friend of Glenallen Hill ( you remember him as a Giants fan) who was and is a class act and stand up guy. Barry wan no team mate to him... While Bonds may play and play on I contend he does so for only his own gain. As for calling bonds an a-hole one need only lok to his exchanges with fans and media for clear proof the guy has little regard for anyone other than Barry Bonds. As a Giants fan you must surely remember Bonds commenting on the possibility of McGwire and Sosa juicing as he became jealous of their run. Bonds damn near admitted to KG Jr and associates he was tired of fighting the trend and had some good years left in which he would "get paid".

I won't deny he has made an astounding accomplishment, but I do feel his accomplishment is tainted by possible use. This is not the hero or role model anyone should look up to and his behavior does nothing for the game of baseball overall.

Again, this is just my opinion and I 'll respect an honor yours, but I must disagree with you in that I have little love for Barry Bonds. No matter for as Barry himself said, "Love me or hate me, I don't give a S**t!!"

Oh... why is the post in "Time Talk"? anyone game for moving it to OT?
