I just received an email from Mario Pacci. They are announcing that they have created and are marketing a watch, the MARO', 44mm and runs on ETA. Of course, the profile looks very Italian. It's on black PVD and sapphire.

FYI, 3T.

Just saw it...But 2500 buks for the PVD model is a bit...High...?
Seems to be quality: No doubt. But personnaly, if I cross the 2000 buks magic-frontier, it will not be for a 2824.2 eta....
:?

There's a lot of homages on the market and in my opinion, Panerai should not got the exclusivity on that. That's just great that some trades are offering homages at affordable prices: Some people got a real passion for those watches but can't afford the top of the range....Some people just got much unused money and buy one of them because they want to look on the fashion.
Still, some brands who don't got a big name associated to Panerai, have to practice low prices to sell.
Dievas as others , is one of them and even I don't have anyone of them watches, I hear only compliments about them.
Specialy that the Black-Diamond got nothing to envy from a PVD...
So when you propose: 1) usual 2824.2 ETA, 2) usual stainless steel with PVD case , how can you come up with 2500 buks's price? I would expect a restored Cortebert 616 sitting inside at this price range: Something closer to the real thing. Specialy coming from Mario Paci.
RXW established a solid reputation and still them Plasmir version is way under that price...
Nice watch this MarĂ² model: But not my glass of Scotch...
I can make my own homages with swiss movement at nearly a 10th of this price
:P

Yup, a Corterbert 616 would be a dream! William is so right on this.

On the Maro', my only grab on this is how the watch will fare in a market where folks are used to recognizing and equating the brand as a strap specialist, a great one though. Maybe they'll succeed but only time will tell.

IMO at that price point I can't see how they would....there are too many other options with the same case, movement, dial, etc at much lower prices

I saw these FS on Ebay and although I like the design I thought when an homage gets too close to the price of an original on the secondary market  like in this case I have to say no.....this particular brand seems to take more than just the look as they have imitated the Panerai logo and script as well which was fine when they only made straps but now it looks too close to the original Panny logo when applied to a watch imho...they also state Made in Italy which to me has that Asian ring to it ;)

.... like William said there are plenty of companies in this category using eta movements with comparable cases and QC that can be had for way less hand6.gif

I would not pay half the price for one. As stated to many other options at much better prices.

I guess that the logo is so closed for a similar product that they could find themself in court against Officine... Oscar nailed it on that.
They made themself a good name with them straps and now they seems to want to hit the jackpot, using the same good name to make over ?2000? buks per watch they sell.
No mistake there, some new watch-trade think that they can sell basic watches in the high-range prices just by using them known name related to other products...
I call this a stunt and that was not in them favor: They should try another market instead of abusing the fact that it's made in Firenze, where the watch-makers seems to be "overpaid by hour"... I will work in Firenze me to for this price and buy me grails every week!
:D
