It was a very pleasant surprise yesterday morning when I received a package at work. It was my first Orsa watch arriving, already !!!:D Thanks to Chris, who was a great WIS to deal with, and 3T. I managed to get a very good condition blue dial, my all time favorite Monstrum... My first impression when I took out the watch from the box , was: WOW, THIS IS BIG!!!:shock::shock::shock: The case is 45mm, but the bezel is more like 47, so it was a nice bonus for me to see this beast. I'm actually very impressed by this funny looking watch. I can understand that this is not a watch for everybody, it's a hate or like candidate but for me, it's a keeper and I'm happy I got one. One of the characteristic of the watch that I like the most, is the high dome sapphire. Even if this one seriously reduces the viewing angle, and catches a lot of reflections, it gives the dial all kind of nice distortions, and when in the right angle, the crystal almost look like an eye, so kind of cool too. Then, I have to keep in mind that this watch was selling new, for under $300! I don't know too many watches out there that gives you a 300m depth rating, signed screwed down crown, automatic Miyota movement, 5.5mm domed sapphire crystal, integrated silicone bracelet, screwed lug bars and a unique personality for that price... For sure I would prefer a black date wheel, natural rubber, not to have to remove the crap that sticks to silicone but, it's still a hell of a watch for the $ I think. I'm not a "Bling" guy, but I kind of like the highly polished bezel, even if it catches scratches more easily, it looks good and it's different from my other watches. Mine has some minor play around the dial and between the clicks, but it does align properly and is quite pleasant to operate. Mixed with the blasted steel of the case, the two make an interesting contrast and offer more choice for optional bracelets IMO... The lume is not stellar, but decent. I also like the signed clasp with the push buttons, it's a bit light weight, but again, a bonus for a watch of that price. Then, you have the case back,hearteyes.gifhearteyes.gifhearteyes.gifhearteyes.gif , drooling......For sure, the nicest one among all my watches. A sea monster, holding a submarine in it's tentacles, is beautifully crafted on the polished case back. I'm very happy that KenC (he was the original owner) and Chris, took good care of the watch and left the case back almost immaculate. I think that one of the pictures really gives it justice, i let you be the judge ;) So, over all a great watch, and I'm happy to be in the Orsa family, better late then never. I feel this will not be my last one either hand6.gif Now a few pictures to express the rest. This is not an easy watch to photograph, but i tried to show the effect of the crystal the best I could, It's toooo cool yourock.gif Thanks for reading. Daniel !!!!...well, Thanks again for the kind words buddy!! It's great to see a fellow 3T'er get to enjoy this one. A very smooth transaction (and once I got over the fact that I'd never shipped outside the USA...heck it's just up the road a little to Quebec...it was smooth sailing from there). I really agree 100% with all of your comments and impressions on the Monstrum. If someone is reading this and they have never seen a Monstrum or been able to feel the heft on their wrist, I think you have captured the essense of why this watch is so loved...it is truly a heck of a watch for the $ and it is just so unique and even a little funky. Fantastic pics !!!! You are so right about the Monstrum being hard to photograph...that steeply domed crystal wants to pull everything in the immediate area into the crystal as a reflection. Your excellent pics really do the Monstrum justice if you know what I mean and really give a great perspective on how this beast looks up close and personal!!! Love your caseback shots!!!hearteyes.gifhearteyes.gif That "Sea Monster" Monstrum caseback is just so sweet...love the shots with the caseback nicely illuminated in red...very nice!!! Wear this one in good health buddy!!woohoo.gif Cheers, -Chris

Congrats! like the black/blue dial, the best IMO... I sold my Monstrum two weeks after buying it partly because of dial color, mostly due to high dome.... but everytime I see one I feel regret...:) Maybe i'll get a used blue one too in the future... yours looks great! My favorite things about it were the blasted case and the caseback design!!! Enjoy it!

Thanks BRP, It's a watch I was looking at since it came out and it feels good to now have my favorite one in my collection hand6.gif I read so many bad things on these outside of 3T, that I was on the fence for a while...Then everybody here seemed so pleased with their Monstrum and it made me feel confident enough to pull the trigger. So far, I've not been miss-leaded on 3T like I have on other Forums... Thanks Nick, I hope to see pictures of yours too...when you get it! woohoo.gifGood luck!

I am happy for you!!! Always a bit stressful to buy a new watch when many give it negative feedback. At the. End of the day, Berg makes a great watch especially fir this $, and it comes to taste! Glad you followed your intuition and 3Ters advice:)
