Just piddling around........... Review Victorinox Swiss Army 9G-600 (pictures provided by U5512) Detail: Case: Stainless steel Measurement Across: 39mm plus crown Length: 46mm Height: 14mm Crystal: Sapphire, anti-glare Back: Solid Stainless Steel Water Resistance: 10 ATM (330 feet) Bracelet: SS, Solid link, solid end link Movement: Valjoux 7750 Style: Military: Accuracy:…………Seemingly……….Dead-On!!!!  What I See: This is a notably substantial watch, although it is a "small" by today's standards. Measuring just 39mm across the case (plus crown and pushers, of course) and only 33mm across the dial, it stands 14mm tall. The case is solid stainless steel with a solid stainless screw down back cover stamped “Swiss Made” and “Water Resistant 330 Feet”. Ironically, at least to me, it is also stamped with the Swiss Air Force Insignia. The entire case is lightly brush finished except for the very tips of the lugs and the end caps of the crown and pushers. The underside of the case and the screw down back appear to be bead blasted. Inside, of course, is the magnificent Valjoux 7750 25-jewel Swiss Chronograph movement. This watch is very significant in both feel and weight. There is nothing "flashy" about the 9G-600. A very clean look for a chronograph! The black dial appears as dark blue in most light, due, I’m sure, to the anti-glare coating on the crystal. Sophisticated and classic in design, the dial is Military in style and unusually easy to read for a chronograph because it lacks the unfortunate "busy-ness" of the typical chronograph. It has crisp white Arabic numbers at the hours with crisp, easy to read sub-dial at the 6, 9 and 12 locations. The date window is located at the 4 location. The coated sapphire crystal does lack a date window magnifier over the rather small date. The matching black chapter ring contains a very legible tachymeter, and the Swiss Army logo and name are proudly, yet subtly, displayed at 3 o’clock! The sword hands are easily readable and the lume, while not great, is good. The bracelet is a solid link, modified oyster style, with links that step in thickness from 3mm to 4mm. 20mm at the lugs, the bracelet has solid, curved end links. Its brushed links then taper to 18mm at the buckle end, which is, in fact, a Swiss Air Force Signature deployant. The bracelet even includes what is typically referred to as a “diver’s extension”. My assumption is that its purpose is for easy wear over fight jackets and flight suits. This watch also looks fantastic on a rich black or brown leather strap!  Overall Impression: At a “Street Price” of under $450 BNIB, (mine is preowned) it is a great time piece for the dollars spent. A true Valjoux 7750 chronograph for under $500, especially with this fit and finish, is hard to find. It easily runs within COSC standards! Very Good review and a nice site Gentleman.:) What type of clasp does it have. They have it at watchseller it does not matter, but is it stamped or forged? That is probably the wrong terminolgy. I was thingking about getting one because I love my Wanger GST Sea I have had it for years, and they are all one company now. Avery............unfortunately the clasp is stamped...........not sure why, but it is a very high quality stamping, extremely heavy and substantial........watchseller is a great dealer and their price is very reasonable for BNIB. I am envious of your Wenger SA GST Sea! Glad you like it here, and.............thanks for the compliment! :dude:

I am new to 3T and also new to automatics (job required great accuracy in time piece and I stayed with quartz) do not need to stay with digital/quartz anymore and automatics appear to be such a nicer way to live. I have been looking at the Invicta 9937/38 and the 9G 600 and was wondering which movement 8824-2 or 7750 would be the most reliable/accurate as i shift into the wonderful world of automatics? Silly me, but are there others within this price range area that i should also look at? Prefer dive watchs and some chronos. Thanks for you help Mike6000

Thank you, Mike and CJ. I believe Oscar just got a couples of 9-G's from a very good source @ approx +/- $400. You might want to check with him. There are many great watches in the sub $500 range. I would say the best approach is to read the forums. Look at the "watcha wearing" type posts and inquire.....anybody will be glad to answer any question you have. Also if you have questions about a dealer or even a seller on a sales forum (which is a good place to pick up a good deal). Mike, as to Invicta, most of us here started our ventures into collecting with Invicta. In the early days they produced* some good watches with good product quality control and reliability. Somewhere along the way, Invicta abandoned their goal of producing inexpensive, quality automatic watches and set a new one of selling as many cheaply made watches as possible for as much as they could and abandoned the customer service aspect of the business along the way (that is if they ever had any customer service). Most of us here would not think of buying an Invicta, especially for more than $200 (our "throw-away" point)..........every once in a while, a nice looking one comes along, someone gets it, and, for the most part, they are disappointed in the production quality and unable to get Invicts to step up and fix it. * Invicta actually produces nothing. They are simply a marketing company that has watches oem'd by others without demanding quality control. They have no service center and they actually have difficulty answering the phone or responding to an email if you have a problem.

Hi Ken, did I goof and send to you vice Oscar or are you monitoring? i have found someone selling the 9G on Ebay for 400 US but if Oscar has a "safer" source then will go that way. the Glycine is at a reputable dealer in Switzerland so no prroblems that way.
