:?I have a Barracuda don't get me wrong it's a nice watch but how is it going to hold any value as a Limited Edition with you bringing out new watches like the Sea Devil with the same 1000m rating and offering them in lower numbers and at a lower price? The whole idea of LE is not to undercut it with the next model or two you come out with. Most of your watches seem to sell out in preorders so why even have a on-line website? I hope you understand the concept I'm stating here. I wish you would re-think the way you sell the watches, this would make them more desirable and make this less like you are just some guy who is out to make a quick buck. Sorry for being so harsh but I think it needs to be said. I was in the Sports Card Industry in the 90s when it went belly up as a result of so many companies coming out with "Collectors" cards that it killed the Industry. Kevin

Pretty sure there is a difference between a Topps Collectors George Brett rookie card and a Nolan Ryan. Apples and oranges. The Barracuda is like no other watch by Benarus. Just my take. You got a nice watch. Quality, unique and for a great price. What was compromised with a different model coming out? As for the website... You expect a company to not be represented with one? How is the value of your watch going to hold up if no one outside a web forum knows what it is? Called being reputable. Not sure why you are more worried about a couple dollars over the craftsmanship and product you have in your possession. Take a look at your wrist. Be happy

I'll throw in my 2 cents.....without question the Barracuda was one of the best watch values of 2008 IMO...and my assumption is the Sea Devil and the Moray will be of equal value. Not sure the point or concern of a watch that cost less than $500 holding it's value or going up in value....let's say it goes up 20%...a great return at $80, I'll be able to retire!! (sorry for the sarcasm) I like the idea of an inexpensive, high quality watch as a LE...I can't tell you the number of times friends have seen the Barracuda or other LE watches I own and asked where they can get one.....I respond with "sorry they are sold out, only 100 made, you can't get one"....for me, I get more satisfaction out of that than any other reason to do with holding or increasing it's value. What it does do is gets them interested in the new watches that are coming out under that brand....I have three friends that have Sea Devils ordered because they saw my Barracuda and could not get one..... In my book I say that's "genius marketing" and keep it up Ralf....I think i speak for many WIS (100 anyway) in saying we love the Barracuda and look forward to future models.

Is this guy for real?....what does anything you have to say have to do with any watches produced by Ralf or where he sells them or how much he charges for them? Benarus is a watch company everyone can afford and appreciate....the value far surpasses watches costing double imho and that doesn't mean they won't hold their value nor go up or down and who really cares....they are made to wear and enjoy...any intelligent WIS knows this unless you are only buying Pateks...sounds like you are saying Ralf should have quit after you bought the Barracuda so you could make some change :D .......Hey maybe someone should get into watch trading cards ...now there's an idea

:shock:Sorry Sorry Sorry!!! I LOVE THE WATCH I think he is doing a great job on the look of them I Didn't mean for it to sound as bad as it turned out. Very bad wording. And love the idea of a inexpensive dive watch. I'm not trying to make a killing in the watch market but it's nice to see something you buy hold it's value and even increase. It's just when new offering are being sold for less, and seem to have the same great quality as the first I have to wounder.

Tha Barracuda sold for the same price as the new Sea Devil and Moray on pre-order hand6.gif....it would be nice to have watches go up in value but I am extacic when they just retain their value as the Barracuda has....and by having a forum where to discuss and become a part of the production of a watch is awesome imho....stick around and get in on all the great pre-order prices available my friend!...and Welcome aboard

IMHO, the more complex case and bezel of the Barracuda more than makes up for the extra money. BTW, take a look around at some of the other boards and you will see plenty of WTB threads with no takers selling. The case and bezel sold me, but I must say the dial and hands are equally well concieved. I just hunted for several weeks for a clean example and a reputable seller willing to deal. I paid 425 shipped and think I did really well. I don't think you will see any sellers accepting the pre-order price to sell ... why should they? They are sold out and Ralf says he won't make anything like them again. With a LE of only 100 worldwide, your neighbor down the street won't have one. Personally I think both models with actual product pics are well worth the asking price in comparison to other brands. The Moray looks nice in concept too. When other micro-manufacturers are asking 3 4 5 thousand a piece for thier watches just because they contain an ETA 2824, Benarus watches are a downright bargain Last edited on Wed Feb 18th, 2009 06:57 pm by |

Just my 2 cents...............forget about making money on watches...like Oscar said unless you are buying one off Pateks chances are slim............on the plus side the last 2 resales I have seen on the Barracuda, no one lost moneyhand6.gif and I think some of them sold for over $400 which was more than the pre-orderyourock.gif that...............is the sign that you have bought into a great product..... Now is it June yet:D

Oscar, taking the playing card thing to a doable level.... It might be kind of cool to start a sub forum with one or two great pics of a watch with specific details on the watch that have to be followed, like brand, model, movement, case size, lug size, etc....it could become a great reference site....with all the great members we have here, with their great collections it might be fun

If you're worried about your Barracuda holding its value, ask yourself this: How many of them have you seen show up on forum sale pages? Personally, I've only seen a couple (and I wish I had been in a position to buy one!). That suggests original Barracuda buyers aren't eager to part with them. And as long as resales remain scarce, demand and values will remain high. And besides, the Barracuda, Sea Devil and Moray are SO different there's no way they can cannibalize one another. Of course, to be safe, you really should consider owning all three Benarus models.
