I agree with Jim on this deisgn. My only suggestion (as previously referenced) would be to de-clutter the dial by deleting the "numbers" at 10 minute intervals. They are not necessary and take away from the clean look of the "teeth".

Regards,

Jo

Maybe we should start a new thread called "Megalodon Dial Designs"

Um ... yeah.

I mean, 'yes please' :P

Ralf -- please include this one in the poll.  This design is absolutely perfect, unique, functional and "timeless".  Thanks, Jim

Jomay --

Remember this is huge dial 47mm case, and that is a lot of landscape to fill... my opinion, the numbers really add to the design, and increase legibility 100%.  It is also, very unique. I can't think of anyone who builds a watch with numbers in the positions shown.

The White Dial Without Numbers is also very nice.... I prefer the numbers though.

Jim

hello jim, hello all the others at the 3t-forum!

first of all:
im a complete "newbie" when it comes to the contribution in a forum.
furthermore english is not my mothertongue, so it's quite demanding to
exactly express my thoughts and get the right "tune" for the communication
here, not to mention some "cultural clashs" that my occur from time to time.
but i'll do my best - and i apologize now & for the future in case i
accidentally get misunderstood or offend someone.

yes, i did the design of that dial (and bezel and the variations with red, light olivegreen, warm grey and roman numerals - and these designs are "rough sketches, there needs to be done a lot more on the details). it's my first "watch-design" ever and im really flattered by the positive feedback and accolade (mostly by jim: thank you so much, i really appreciate that, my ego too! but honestly: blancpain that's another universe - the 50 fathoms is a real masterpiece of timeless sportive elegance, and the numbers thing is quite common on chronographs with three counters) and i do gratefully accept all critics, because i always want to do better (...the pursuit of perfection, which will - thankfully - never be accomplished).

i'm a graphic designer (mainly for packaging (food) and corporate design (logo, identity...)) so i always look for challenges that demand my talent.

i share with you the "almost unhealthy" interest in watches and i'm a happy and satisfied customer of ralf ((3 sea devils, 2 blasted w. white lume (one with red second hand one with black second hand - yeahh strange, but i couldn't make a clear decision about the red so i took them both; 1 brushed w. black dial).
these watches are "awesome" (you love that word, right? ;-) ). i love them and have a smile every time i look at my wrist (...and i usually do not smile when it comes to time, which always melts away too fast) - the clear design which does not distract my eyes, the nice numbers the reliable, robust and heavy construction of case and bracelet, the "half-of-a-porc"-leather strap - all that at a very, very low price - can you ask for more?
...and the white lume really is: awesome (...i have to admit this word is quite addictive ;-) ). thank you ralf & steve for these special timepieces - my new "daily rockers"!

i would love to do more designs for the megalodon-project (and future projects), but as some of you already mentioned, this thread gets somehow confusing and i don't want to confuse this whole thing even more. if you  - ralf and steve - want me to, i will be very happy to share my designs and contribute here. problem is always: time, wife, two kids and a cat need to be feeded occasionally, therefore i have to use most part of my lifetime in order to "earn some bucks" - means: if i find some time and a muse is kissing me gently i will design many more watches. (...and my pics shall never be that gigantic again, sorry for that - i'm used to big pictures, you get more of the details).

thanx for your patience reading this
(...my next posts will be shorter)

have a nice weekend
stef.

Stef.,

Thanks for all your AWESOME work on the Megaladon, and your great message.   I hope that there will be enough votes, and that we will be able realize Ralf's great execution of your design.

Jim

from one newbie and watchaholic to another, welcome.
Your creativity and talents are much appreciated.

I am very happy I found this place as well. I have been collecting for a few years, from high to low, and have never been satisfied. I finally feel excited about a watch again, being in on the development of Ralf's watches. It is a great thing to have input and see the watch come to life. I visit here daily and have become a big Benarus fan.

Keep it up guys, and thanks for making the hobby exciting again. thankyou.gif

Jim - I hear you on the numbers. The teeth (as 3, 6, 8 and 12 hour markers) are so important in the design of this watch, it looks cleaner without the numbers. Is it possible to have one design with numbers and one without, as is the case the Moray?
Regards,
Jo
