I have a Moray on order, and I was wondering two things- first, how high will the domed crystal be? Will it extend past the bezel? And second, will the bracelet be adjustable for wetsuits and such? If not, is it something that can be added to the bracelet? I have a Citizen Aqualand with an adjustable bracelet, and it is a godsend.

Thanks,

Ted

What your thinking of is a divers clasp extention. I have them on a few of my watches. I nice added bonus for sure on a diver with a bracelet. And I don't recall any mention of that with the Moray. Not sure about the Crystal. Maybe Ralph or Steve will pipe in. ;)

It is described as double domed in one of Ralfs posts somewhere.

I don't know what that means dome wise but quite like domed crystals I have so looking forward to getting mine.woohoo.gif

Ive been interested to see this component as well. The new Benarus 1k has the double domed crystal on it.  Hard to see from the pics how much.  Doesnt look like it sticks out above the bezel, but does look round from above.  If that makes sense.

Which are the pros and cons of a domed crystal?

"double domed" means curved on the underside as well as the top side

generally, I like domed crystals, as I feel they impart a more "vintage" feel... they arguably protect the watch bezel from scratches because they extend upwards and take an impact over it.  on the downside, they have significantly more glare than a flat crystal (which can often be almost invisible)

Chris -- I like the look of nice dome crystal like classic Rolex Sub that rises above the bezel... and while the crystal might protect the bezel, the crystal is then exposed to impact and scratches.  The crystal on my friends Rolex is really sbeat up, but it could acrylic?

I think ideally, it would great to have a dome that rises up over the inner edge of the bezel for the vintage look, and then have the outer edge of the bezel raised to protect the crystal...Seiko Monster has that profile, and perhaps the Ocean7 LM-3?

What are your thoughts?

Jim

I have never owned a watch with a domed saph crystal that did not extend higher than the bezel so I would say yes to your question and the bracelet does not have a divers extension to my knowledge but one can be added if you have one that is compatible......otherwise Ralf includes a rubber strap which you could use when diving as many do or a strap of your choice ...the advantages of a domed/double domed saph crystal is visiblity as it makes things much clearer and sharper with much less distortion much like a optical lens...the AR coating cuts down the glare in direct sunlight or light sources....this is something found on watches costing much more and great little extra on the Moray imho hand6.gif

Cool, I'm looking forward to this watch! I guess I'll have to be careful of the crystal. And I'll need some guidance on fitting the bracelet with a clasp extension. This watch will definitely be diving. Thanks!

Side view...

also, the lug bars will be drilled which is not shown on this picture, the lug bar will be one long screw with thread on one side and the slot for the driver on the other.
