I think this is the same for many, it is for me too. The Benarus boxes get put away. I think new customers who don't have a box might be a little disappointed, but the box gets put away and not used, this travel roll-up can be used with not just your BENARUS watches, but a set of watches that you want to take on a trip. It can also be laid flat in a drawer like the box, and protect the watches while they are not being worn.

My comment about "both" was tongue in cheek. I am really pleased to be getting a travel roll-up up with my Moray. I do need one, and like yourself (and others) keep my watches either on the winder or in a watch box.

Quite keen on buying one of those harder travel boxes you just posted a picture off too actually :)

I'm going to take into consideration as to what I am reading that for the most part those who are so wanting the watch box are new to the hobby and that this means something special to you?....all I can say is that once you start seriously collecting and have been around awhile amassing a large collection those boxes become nothing but a big nuisance.:D

I am sure Ralf and Steve took their time in making this decision and felt as I do that the wrap was the icing on the cake!...one thing I have noticed about Benarus is their attention to detail and not being like everyone else...take for instance these carry boxes which Ralf was one of the very 1st to use  and now every forum watchguy is using them!...I can see the next wave of forums watches all using this wrap in the near future,so I look at it like I was the 1st on the block to get this very cool wrap which is actually a great travel case! ..and I Thank Ralf and Steve for  taking the extra time to make sure I get more than my monies worthhand6.gifhand6.gif

I know as a newbie it was awesome to display my watch in the carriage it came in but as I said after awhile they just became a burden trying to find a place to store them all as my collection grew and my watches found their way into collectors cases.....now these are collectible...watch boxes?...Nah...not imho! Most companies don't even tell you what your watch is coming in and quite frankly who cares becuase my only interest is the watch ...there seems to be this trend among new WIS who just expect everything...extra straps, tools, lug screws....hey what next a free watch too! ....wait until you buy your 1st Rolex or Omega and you only get the watch and a box...c'mon give a seasoned WIS a break! :D

Like a lot of guys on here the boxes as nice as they are just get put away and barely seen again or just sold on to someone on the 'bay'.

For me i think the roll is an excellent choice and a lot more useful but i am glad to be able to get a great looking watch at an incredible price and the extra straps and tools are a bonus and pure genius by Ralf and Steve.

I for one say thanks to Ralf and Steve as i wait biting my nails, fingers and generally chomping at the bit for the release date.

Keep up the good work guys. hand6.gif

After reading your post, i have to agree with you Oscar.  Thank you to put it in perspective. hand6.gif

Even if the case was very nice, we will probably appreciate the travel pouch very much once we have it.  By the way, how many watches can be stored in it? 5 or so?

Boxes are a pain. I dont think I have a single watch in one. Even watches that sit the bench. I use the nylon watch coffins for travel. Or in my car.  This wrap will be big upgrade.

I would prefer the SD case, but as several have pointed out the watch is the main event!!

Just a suggestion, why not offer the case as an chargeable extra (like Steinhart) or offer it free to the first x buyers ( or only those that pay in full 'upfront').

You might be pleasantly suprised :-)

Rob

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I prefer the roll-up travel case.

I like taking 3 - 4 watches with me when I travel, but packing them safely yet in minimal space is always problematic. I have a soft-sided zippered Orbita case that's very compact (and very overpriced), but it only holds two watches. A roll-up is really the only practical, space-efficient solution for traveling with more than two that I know of. For what it's worth, Magrette ships their watches in a roll-up too.

While I'm at it, a plug for the 4-watch case pictured below. Way too big to travel with IMO, but a great solution if (like me) you prefer storing your watches lying down rather than buckled around a pillow. I was lucky to get the last one, and I already have my name in for another if more become available.

I bought one of those, too. Just waiting for it to arrive.

I can understand the concerns of first time buyers and newbie collectors. I must say I really like the Benarus watch cases that came with the Barracuda and Sea Devil. That said, I currently have some of my watches stored in a Pelican 1120 case (can hold 4 watches) using pick-n-pluck foam (see attached, Sea Devil is now GONE!).

I am looking forward to the travel roll case that is being provided with the Moray. BTW, it looks like leatherette to me, but I'll let Steve clarify that.

For those of you wanting a Benarus watch case, perhaps some will go up for sale at some point. Once I get my four watch case I might let my Barracuda case go (blue stitching, but no Benarus logo on that case).

I for one am very interested in what the leather strap will look like.

100% right on the money Oscar, I could not have said it better...you saved me a bunch of typing, that is exactly what I was going to say.

The cases that came with the SD are nice, but I opened the box, took out the watch put the case back in the cardboard box and put it in storage.....the travel roll will be awesome, that is something I will use every week!!!

Great job Ralf and Steve....keep up the great work party.gif
