The Moray will also come with 2 screw drivers and there is a extra

space for them on the left side

Will there be any tools coming with the watch?  If it is coming with a roll and not a box, does that mean no screwdrivers?

I appreciate everyone sharing their opinions about this, as everyone may feel different than I do, but I don't like any assumptions being made that only those who are new to collecting would appreciate the box.  That may be true for some, but not for all.

All I know is I prefer the SD box over the travel roll.  I travel a lot and only ever take one, maybe two watches with me, so I don't think this will benefit me.  I would appreciate some consideration.

At first I was dissapointed about no box.  Now after seeing more pics and some of the discussion, I am very happy to be receiving it.  Excellent choice.  Thank you.

Excellent, Ralf . . . that's something I can really use. Is it leather or a man-made material?

Having a watch roll that will hold LARGE watches is rare.  If you do not want yours, I bet you can make some money selling the roll after you get the watch.

Great job Ralf!

it amazes me to think there is a discussion over something as simple as what a watch arrives in let alone what freebies are coming with the packaging. :D

Why dismiss other peoples' opinions  who have ordered watches simply because they do not agree with you?

as I said it amazes me that this is even a topic of discussion...walk into an AD and buy a watch...then tell him you don't care for the carriage it is in and prefer a different one and then ask him to throw in some screwdrivers and a couple extra straps...do you get the picture I am seeing?...subtlelaugh.gif

Ralf/Steve/Benarus and ownership of this forum work very hard to bring something to WIS that is not offered anywhere else that I know of...and that is member participation along with discounts ,extras and special ordering of case finishes, hands and even dial colors at no extra charge yet this doesn't seem to be enough for some!....what I am saying is give some consideration to those who bring these things to the table instead of whining...and that is what all this is..whining not opinions imo!...remember the saying "it won't be missed until it is gone" and hopefully this doesn't prove to be the "case" here....no pun intended ;)

I can understand how you could have that perspective, I suppose, but I feel like I am looking at it another way.  Ralf and Steve have said that the cost is equal, they are just trying to supply the best option for everyone.  In order to know what that is, it's important to know what opinions are.  I'm not looking to nit pick over "freebies," but I also don't think these are freebies at all, I think they are a part of the overall package that is a Benarus watch.

Given that they are equal in cost and effort, my choice would be the box over the roll.  That is my personal choice.  I think that since expectations have been set so high - to the outstanding credit of Ralf/Steve, please don't take that as anything beside what I am trying to communicate - there was an implied expectation that the case would be something as good or better.  Now, setting aside the point that depending on your perspective, this may indeed be a better option, if your expectation and desire was to own at least a similar box to the SD, there was at least the potential for some disappointment with a dramatically different offering.

Given that, all I'm saying is that in my opinion, the overall package is not as valuable to me as it would be with the box.  I may be up in the night, or in the vast minority, or too inexperienced to really understand what a weathered and experienced watch collector understands, but I absolutely don't think I'm complaining about freebies.  The packaging is a way to differentiate your product and add value, whether real or perceived.  Granted, it has no effect on the actual core product, but since we are discussing the packaging here in this thread, I don't see any issue with taking into consideration all opinions.  I haven't seen any insults yet, so I think the conversation has been healthy.

I can't believe that Ralf and Steve read this and get offended or angry because someone communicates their opinion, on the contrary, I'm sure they value all feedback.  They have actually demonstrated that in their actions, so I don't fear they will take anything away from us in future products because of some complaints or shared opinions.  Those who come to these forums to discuss items are always more passionate than the general public, so I think this is to be expected, actually.

I'm not here to convince anyone to believe the way I do, I just like people to understand where I'm coming from.  If you think differently than I do, I have no problem with that at all.  If we all thought the same, this would be a very boring place to spend any time.  Not passing judgment on anyone, just sharing my opinion and hoping I'm respected while doing it.

I've been thinking about the watch boxes I currently have cluttering up the place and , upon reflection, I think the roll may be useful.  My only requirement would be that there is a small box (or sealed pocket) included to hold spare links, screw bars etc.

Just out of interest... what kind of packaging did the Barracuda and 1Km have?

I only own a Sea Devil and I thought (but I don't know why!) that the packaging was part of the Benarus "branding".

I suspect that part of the disappointment (if you can call it that!) for some members is that they were expecting "Sea Devil like" packaging.

I can see Ralf's viewpoint with regards to trying to offer something different  to those customers who may have bought several Benarus watches though.

People will have different opinions/needs and, try as Ralf may, he can't please everyone all the time :).
