Thanks, Thanks, Thanks All!  As expected, I knew that this thread would solicit some terrific feedback from some hard-core Meg fanatics.  Please keep the dialogue alive w/what you'd like to see incorporated into a "future" Bronze Meg (but don't forget about all the gr8 pieces that Steve and Ralf have up on the Benarus website).  Again, thanks to all my Fellow Meg collaborators on hopefully making this dream a reality by showing your genuine support for a build of this type.  Have a good one and as always, Happy Collecting.

P.S.  Yes! A $500 deposit for a Bronze Meg sounds very fair to me.

Kindly,
-T-

I have just finished talking with Ralf and this project could become a reality in the price range of around $1600. We discussed using the all bronze bezel and not the lume insert, The rubber strap will look nice, but a little small for some people, so I thought about using a leather zulu with PVD hardware. The case backs and crowns could be titanium and coated PVD to match. The dials could be black, blue, and brown, sun brushed metallic under black tooth ring. We are using up all of the CuSn8 for the bronze Moray project so we need to order more bronze. It could also be done with the regular ETA 2824-2 instead of the top grade, depending on the availability of the top grade.

Awesome Steve!!!   happy guy.gif

Loving the sound of this, and a really vintage looking leather zulu would be a very cool combination!  Heck, one of my favorite combos on the Mega is a nice thick leather strap...you could also consider a thick leather strap (left extra thick at the lug bars to fill in any gap that may exist due to a thinned-at-the-lugs strap which is more typical), but the leather zulu sounds great too!

Sun brushed metallic versions on the dials sounds pretty good...I would personally prefer a solid, more matte version dial, or even a gloss enamel looking solid color on the dials, but I'll think a bit more on that...

A Bronze Mega would be so sweet!thumbsup.gif

Steve,

Roughly how much is the difference between a top grade and a regular 2824-2?

Steve,

Thanks for taking this up and providing us with more details on what you see as doable. The leather Zulu would be fantastic (though I think the same rubber that comes with the current Megs would be nice to have too). If the price for the Top Grade is about the same as it has been in the past (+$100) I would definitely vote that way. Please let us know if/when this project becomes a reality as I will put my name on the list for sure.

Cheers
Spencer

I think it is around $150 or more. If they are available we can use them, but availability is the question, not the price.

Hey there Steve,
Thanks for recently having the discussion w/Ralf on possibly making this Bronze Meg project a reality.  I'm sure many of us "Megalophiles" will be eager to add a piece or two to the collection given the specs you've described.

Yes, a longer, rubber strap added to this possible Meg project would make a terrific fit.

Have a good one and as always, Happy Benarus Collecting All.

Kindly,

the mold and production cost doesn't make sense at this time. custom rubber production is very expensive.
