Because they have to justify the inordinate price difference..............in both hardware and software costs! :D:D:D

HUH!??? Software costs? R U Kidding? A Retail packaged copy of Windows XP Pro will cost you about $300 ($309.99 at CDW). Mac OS10 Tiger Retail package costs $129 from the APPLE store. Student/Teacher versions of Office 2004 for Mac costs $149.95 at Retail. About the same as the Windows version. Adobe PhotoShop for Mac and Windows - Same price. Mac's iWork costs $79 at Retail vs. Microsoft Works 8 at $49.95 Retail. Ok, ya got one. Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac vs. Microsof Office Standard for PC = about the same pricing.

When it comes to hardware, well there is a difference. I can't deny it. But then, there isn't a PC box on the consumer market that looks as well engineered and designed inside and out as a Mac G-5 computer. Does my Corum Romulus watch keep better time than my big honking Russian jobs I've been buying lately? NO! But, you pay more for it, for the design, quality, and everything else that makes someone pay more money for something that does basically the same thing another product will do for a lot less.
