He'll be extremely smart, fiercely loyal, very protective of your daughter and family, and no doubt a bit mischievious as well. Herding dogs need a "job" or they get themselves in trouble. Our Border Collie mixes decided one day to eat the couch because they were bored. We wanted to replace that couch anyway

You are right, hearding dogs need a job or they will go nuts. I have Shelby keeping an eye on the rabbits and groundhogs on the property so that keeps her occupied.
