Let me give you an idea of the dimensions. It is a big watch, 45mm by 55mm and it is thick. As a reference, it is smaller than the Monstrum but the case sits better on the wrist. The case is nicely curved like a cushion case. It is a very nice piece to have on the wrist. It is even more comfortable than a cushion case Seiko 6309 wich says a lot. The fit and finish of the case is fantastic and is comparable to a watch costing double the price of the Viper. The engraved caseback is outstanding, the Viper is nicely rendered.
The bracelet is a 22mm chunk of stainless steel. It is a real 22mm piece and it is 22mm all the way to the double locking clasp. The clasp is engraved with the Orsa logo and the locking mechanism snaps in place securely. The bracelet links are held with screws, not pins. The endlinks connecting the bracelet to the case are solid instead of folded steel and they fit very tightly to the case. There is no play between the endlinks and the case wich is an indication of good design. The bracelet links are solid and quite thick. All in all, it is one of the best bracelet I have seen in a watch, regardless of price.
The dial is a real standout, nicely rendered and highly readable. The dial is black and the hour markers are orange and white and are very easy to read. The dial contains the Orsa logo done in white and the Sea Viper name in red. On the bottom of the dial are the words automatic and the depth rating of 500m-650ft both done in white. There is a date window at the four o clock position, it is white with black lettering, very easy to read.
The hour and minute hands are done in orange with white lume. They are thick and very nicely finished. The second hand is thin and white wich makes it easy to spot on the dial. The hour markers and the hands are easy to read because of the contrast between the black dial and the hands. The lume provides great readability against the dial and is quite long lasting.
The bezel is black with white and red numeral markers wich stand out nicely. It is a standout in this watch and I like the look of it. The fit of the bezel is tight with a nice action to it. It clicks into position firmly and it aligns perfectly with the markers of the dial.
The crown is thick and easy to grab and turn. It locks with great precision and sits nicely on the 4 o clock position on the side on the case. The crown also has the logo and it is raised and easy to see.
There you have it. The Sea Viper represents what a good diver should be, a solid and chunky piece of steel wich is easy to read. The movement is top of the line and so far has been very accurate. The bonus here is that it is a great looking watch and very comfortable to wear. Bottom line, the Sea Viper is one of the best value out there in diver land.
