Obsession is, IMHO, destructive in all it's many manifestations. Collecting is usually not. Common sense should always prevail. If something happens which jeopardizes the family, then it's time to change priorities. No watch is worth a marriage or a family. Time spent on a hobby can get to be excessive, but there is generally an underlying psychology which allows the obsession to substitute for something missing in other parts in ones life. Hammer is right.
