It is yet another unfunded Federal mandate that Congress passed.  They decided it would save energy costs.  Of course, IT departments dependent on Micro$oft have to spend hours patching Windows and Outlook so calendar entries aren't screwed up for those extra weeks.

The XP patch wasn't bad, I sent it out over my network to all our PC's (
If you have Vista the new time zone rules are already there so you don't need a patch).  The Exchange email server patch however...Microcrap released a tool...it didn't work.  So 20 days later they released another tool (this law passed in 2005 mind you, nothing like waiting until the last minute), and it too didn't work.  So they finally published updated instructions (after we spent hours researching) and hooray, it worked! 

Oh yeah, Congress reserves the right to switch DST back next year if the energy savings studies are inconclusive. :shock:
