yep ken your right. checked that s1 and it does wind. and very well I may add. had it confused with the seiko.
The base Seiko movements (7S27/7S36) are not hacking and not hand-windable while the move up (6R15, etc) does both. The Seiko rotoer on the 7Sxx movement are bi'directional, though, and do a superb job of auto winding. The same with the base Orient movements....I am not sure if Citizen (Miyota) has a hacking movement in their stable.
