Long before I got seriously interested in watches I started collecting knives. And I don't mean a nice variety of Ginzu kitchen knives. Back in '84 when I graduated from college I started collecting Interesting production knives I would see in catalogs. Stuff like Cold Steel, Sog, & Gerber. Over the years my collection grew and evolved. At one point I had over 200 pieces in the collection both production and custom, handmade pieces. Now my collection has evolved to where there are very few production pieces and mainly custom stuff. Every year I attend the North East Custom Collectors show in Mystic Connecticut and pick up a new piece or two for the collection. Just like watches, I buy and sell knives. Interestingly enough some of my favorite knives are automatics, both production and custom made. One of my favorite production companies that I've been collecting for years is a company called Microtech. Here are a couple of shots from my collection, custom and Microtech auto. I have a small collection of low end knives. Those above are nice and that top one is a beauty. hearteyes.gif I also have a Holy Bible collection. 30+ translations/versions of the Bible in English. One King James version from 1677 in amazing shape for a 331 year old Bible. :) And I have a small collection about a dozen hand bells I got from a late aunt. I was always messing with them as a kid so she left them to me. :D

Cool knives! Wow! While I don't have anything like these beauties, I like to cook and appreciate good knives and have a couple for the kitchen for slicing, dicing, chopping, etc. Also like music, cars and history, though being a single parent with an 8 year old boy does not afford time for much else.

Wow, beautiful That Microtech Auto is an awesome piece. I have a buddy that got out of the knife hobby about a year ago, I bet ya, you know him. Nice Hobby

I used to collect knives some 40+ years ago. My criteria was hand forged combat pieces. I still have a couple of the old, original hand forged Buck knives and a couple Randall knives.

Very cool replies guys. Skip, a bible collection, wow that is cool. A 331 year old one, that is amazing. Goldengrr, Cooking is always a good ol' standby. Nothing like creating a fine, delicious meal to sit down and savor the flavor. Hey Ken, yeah I love those Randalls. I have a mint Model #14 Attack in the collection with the original sheath and wrap.

Back then there was a waterproof/watertight rubber butt cap on the hollow handle instead of the brass cap they have now. I have the original sheath, but this knife was well used for practical purposes while in Vietnam ...while it is not "mint" it is not damaged (hey..it's a Randall).
