So my wife's Caravan has a hood where the paint has oxidized horribly. The rest of the body looks okay, but this hood has basically gone to a  matte blue and lightened up.

So my question is, is this typically something that has to be repainted? Or is there a rubbing/buffing/polishing compound I can use to fix this?

TIA!

David

The Paint is thinner on the hood, guaranteed, you can buff it out by hand or machine, if using a machine you may burn through due to the thinness of the paint, by hand you will want to use mcguires 1-2-3 care system and follow the directions.

You will always have to keep the Hood polished and a coat of wax on it, or it will tarnish right away and after washing it will probably go flat again on you, so you will always be giving the hood extra love.

You can always try Rubbing compound and then Polishing compound, green can and a red can at auto parts stores, I think turtle wax makes that.

This is only a bandage. Nothing will cure it except for new paint.

Keep on Rubbin party.gif
