ordered one of those vintage Heuer straps from Squinky.  Now this baby really has that funky 70's look.

Cal. 12?

yep, cal 12.  A quick story about this watch.  My dad bought this in 1973 in New Orleans.  He was an engineer with Exxon and the slide rule bezel was almost like a James Bond thing back then.  Anyhow, he wore it for about 5 years, then fell victim to the quartz revolution.  Dad never was a WIS and still wears the same gold tone Pulsar quartz with the little aluminum calendars that you slide on the band.  I swear, I didn't think you could even find those things anymore.  When one quartz dies, he buys another just like it.  Anyhow, I was at home Xmas before last and was digging through his desk looking for a pen.  I find this Heuer and remembered it from when I was a kid. I look at the dial and see Heuer (not TAG Heuer mind you) and almost fell out.  "Dad, do you know what this is?"  My dad replies, "you LIKE that ugly thing, it's yours".  Man ... he shoots, he scores.  I wound it up and it ran fine.  Later that year I sent it in for a new crystal, 2 new pushers and a complete overhaul.  It runs about + or - 2 seconds a week now.  I gotta dig through the old desk more often.  As a bonus, the old fart still had the original papers and the manual that shows you how to work a slide rule.  Dad doesn't throw away anything. ~ David

Not only is it a great watch now, it will be a priceless treasure in the future because it was your Dad's!

This is the Heuer Daytona (Cal. 12 chrono) I bought at Labelle's Catalog Showrooms back in 1976.  Anybody remember catalog showrooms 30 years ago?

I finally sold my Daytona about 6-7 years ago for about a grand to finance a whole slew of new watch purchases!  I think I had paid under $300 for it back in our Bicentennial year.

Pacific Chrono, my brother has that exact watch.  Hmmm .... I wonder if I can talk him out of it.  I know he doesn't wear it anymore.  Regards - "Red"
