Cave Dweller #65 arrived on my doorstep today. As you will be able to see, I am in love with the bracelet and case. This watch has the finest bracelet of any I own. In addition to the rock solid bracelet and case, it uses screws instead of pins for the links. This thing is massive, so if you like heavy watches, this is one for you. It has many nice touches such as the fact that the inside of the links are slightly curved. I particularly like the way the bracelet integrates into the case in kind of a concave sort of way. The lugs remind me of Batman ears. I will point these features out as we go. First, the reveal.   Typically, I prefer a nice standard presentation case. The Cave Dweller doesn't come with one of those. Instead, it comes with this nice travel case.  It turns out I have been needing a travel case anyway, so I made out this time. Our last few vacations, I have wanted to take three watches (all divers for a beach trip). Since I haven't had a travel case, I have been carefully wrapping them in a tube sock. This protects them OK, but I am always concerned my wife might need to go into my luggage and pull out a sock not realizing there is a watch in it, and blam, on the floor it crashes. Now those days are over! It's hard to tell in the shot above, but the travel case holds two watches with a separator between them for protection. The package also comes with a rubber strap.  OK, enough with the goodies, let's check out the watch. Here it is, nicely snuggled into the travel case.  OK, so I have been raving about the case and bracelet, so let's take a look. I will start with the bracelet first.  That shot shows the screws very nicely. Notice the slight curvature to the inside of the links. Now here are several more showing the way this thing hugs curves.     That bracelet is like butter! Let's take a look at the clasp. It's the standard diver's puch button release clasp with safety lock.  Now let's look at one of my favorite parts of the watch, the integration of the bracelet into the case.  Notice how the lugs taper down to the bracelet, and that the lugs are pointy at the top. This give a slight Batman ears appearance to me. Here are some more shots at different angles.    Now let's look at some of the other angles of the case.        You may have noticed an absence of straight shots at the dial. Try as I might, I just can't eliminate the glare from my house lights shooting straight into the dial. Here is a poor shot of the lume. I can never get a good lume shot, but I guess this is better than nothing.  Then again, maybe I was wrong. :( Let's take a closer look at the travel case.  I guess after all that, all that is left is a wrist shot after sizing it.  Obviously this won't be leaving my wrist for many days!

After two days of testing, I am averaging 5s slow per day (it actually was 5s slow each day too), which I am pleased with. With this bracelet, I feel like I am wearing chainmail! The Cave Dweller, chainmail for your wrist! Keith, I expect royalties if you use that. :)

This is my last post for monitoring the movement's accuracy. After 14 days, it has lost 69 seconds, providing an average of -5.64s/day. For those interested in the dailies, here they are: 2/2/2009 @ 10:29:00 am my watch is +10s. (set) 2/3/2009 @ 11:59:15 am my watch is +5s. (lost 5s) 2/4/2009 @ 10:22:30 am my watch is 0s. (lost 10s) 2/6/2009 @ 11:22:00 am my watch is -17s (lost 27s) 2/9/2009 @ 11:23:15 am my watch is -34s (lost 44s) 2/12/2009 @ 7:01:10 pm my watch is -55s (lost 65s) 2/16/2009 @ 9:40:00 am my watch is -69s (lost 79s) avg of -5.64s/day over 14 days. This is my first Miyota movement, so I was a little concerned that it might not be as accurate as I would like. Now that I have this one and see how accurate it is, I wouldn't be concerned with buying another watch with one. I have worn this watch every day since receiving it over two weeks ago. If you are on the fence, take the plunge. I just can't believe you won't be glad that you did.
