Doh, I sent my deposit before reading this, and I used the sales@benarus.com address! I trust Ralf can figure it out, I also emailed him.

#72 if no red carbon fibre dial offered. #42 in red if it is offered.

Ralf - count me in for #9.  I will send deposit.

I have been away of easter holidays and have missed the action. Could I ask what happened to Stef's designs? I had the belief that a lot of peopled wanted to incorporate his designs. I do believe they do look very clean.

Also, Steven had a design with only teeth at the 12, 3, 6 and 9 hour markers. I really liked that design as well. It would be great to have the 2nd dial option as the existing design looks a bit like a seiko which someone posted recently on this site. Your thoughts?

Regards,
Jo

Hi!

This is going to be a great first post for me!!!  I am a bit Corn-Fused on the numbering of these watches!  Will there be a new series of numbers for each dial configuration?  Do I need to specify at the time of deposit what I want as far as dial color and hand configuration?

I really want a #3 (it is the number I collect for my other vices!) but I see it is already claimed by another gentleman!  Can I get a #3 if I specify a different dial config than his?

If no #3 can I have #1?  I have read through the thread twice and do not see where anyone has claimed #1!!!

I will send a deposit as soon as I can confirm a number!!!!anodie.gif

Hi and welcome on T3.

If I will offer with another dial this will be another series with new numbers.
#1 is also gone it is mine and not for sale, sorry.
At the moment I check how many are serious to buy one an if there are 50 I will start the production.
I offer only the first dial for sure but if the interest should  become bigger I will add a second one.
You don't have to specify at the time of deposit, there is enough time after  the decision is made that it will be produced.

Regards Ralf

Ralf, Maybe I am a little eager, but I was wondering how many deposits you have received so far? Hopefully more than 22.

It was a rough week here in the US as it was tax day yesterday, so hopefully it will pick up.

Can you tell I am looking forward to seeing this watch become a reality?

Well, that makes it 25 so we're half way there.  The pace has slowed down a lot but if everyone of us could find one friend or somebody to buy one, the MEGALODON would become reality!  Let's talk about it guys, we need those 25 extra buyers, i want this watch and i know you want it too!!!;)  Ok, i'm going to start bugging my coworkers now, we never know...

I wonder if it would be better to have a down payment and then 2 or 3 payments after that before watch ships at end of year. ie: if watch is $550 with a dp of $250 then have 2 payments of $150 in lieu of 1 payment of $300....May easy the burden....Just a thought!!!

I doubt that Ralf would complain if you wanted to pay for the watch(es) in multiple payments, I would guess he is individually tracking each order
individually in a spreadsheet or something anyway.

Everyone who ordered 1 watch... order a 2nd.  That will assure production.  Then you have a backup, gift, extra stock, or trade your 2nd back to Ralf as more orders come in.

That would be a false economy. If there is demand they will sell. Sure, if you want two, buy two.

I did a lot of design work with a Master Guild Knifemaker.  When I really wanted a custom knife to my specifications, I made sure to order a minimum of ten so that the "economy" of production was strongly in my favor.  Instead of paying 5x for one custom knife, I got 10 knives at average cost of 1x each.  There are a lot of cost savings when materials, heat treating, grinding, and final prep are done as assembly line as opposed to one custom.  So the "economy" was very much in my favor, because when I was done with my order my cost was 10x or twice the cost of buying one custom at 5x, which means I got 8 for free.  And once the knives were in my hand, my friends snatched them up.

the Megalodon will go up quite a bit after pre order, so not a bad investment. this project is still very much alive, Ralf is exploring the best solutions right now and the Megalodon will get the attention it was getting a few weeks ago. I'm not looking to make money on the watch, just add a nice watch to my collection. If someone wants to speculate on the value of these watches (like they do with some of the high end watches) then that is their choice. I don't mind as I will have my watch. So please, everyone (but me) order more Megalodons! :)

just to try and put everyone at ease I will say although I have not discussed this with Ralf but 3T will put up any additional funding needed to help complete this project watch2.gif

I am sure the Megalodon will be a big hit and sell out once a proto is posted!.....with that I want to reinerate what Steve just said and that the Megalodon will be substantially higher in cost to those who do not pre-order at Ralfs very generous pre-order price for members/WIS which imo is $$$ less that any other watch in this category using a eta and giving case finish options hand6.gif

....so with that said I would strongly suggest anyone on the fence to get their order into Ralf/Steve asap to solidify your place in line and # you prefer for a awesome Megalodon!.....there is time since the production of this watch is still a couple of months away and delivery/completeion longer but the pre-order will not last forever nor will the watch imo thankyou.gif

Oscar I hate to be a pain in the rear but since the thread is sooooo long can a new locked thread be started with all the options? I like the PVD or DLC? with the blue CF but I'm not sure if thats a go.....or are we waiting on Ralfs factory visit to firm things up?...TIA!!

Just wait a little longer for the new thread, we should have new images and the options might be a little bit better than what you already know.

we want to really nail down the final look and features so everyone knows exactly what it will look like and the specs.

Gregger as mentioned in the very 1st post in this thread the CF is not a probable option at this time and has been beat to death already....so let's focus on the black dial with available finishes...SS/PVD/DLC ,3 bezel options and hand options as pictured below....everyone can also refer to the 1st post in this thread if you are not already familiar with the options hand6.gif...Steve we are all friends here and I have faith that the pre-order will be enough....I for 1 can't wait to see this watch come to life! yahoo.gif

yes, I believe we are on schedule for this to be reality. but I am amazed at your kind offer Oscar. Ralf is taking some much deserved vacation time right now after being at the factory, so we may not here much from him for a few days.

Welcome Handie.

Here is a brief update, Ralf is flying back to Germany right now and I will be speaking with him tonight on a few topics, one will be the Megalodon update. I believe we will be able to post the latest news on the Megalodon within the next 24 hours.

Thanks for everyones patients over the last few weeks... it takes time to get all the details correct with the actual production details.

I absolutely love the look of this watch but at 47mm with 49mm bezel it would just be too big for me :( but i am still looking forward to seeing the finished product.

All the best,

Stu.

Great news on the Mega getting the green light!!!

Now the fun begins!!!!

I did NOT specify face or hand preferences when I sent in my deposit.  Do I need to do that now?

Ralf said that you didn't need to confirm your preferences until he posted the full details of what would be available, just waiting on what can be done before confirming choices.

Hi guys. Im new on here, been lurking for a while. Im a member on tz-uk too. I really really want a Megalodon! I was looking at the Sea Devil and Moray, but saw this come up and cant believe how outstanding the watch is for the price being offered. Am I allowed to pm to Ralf or Steve to confirm an order and place a deposit? Thanks :)

Hello all, like Mr Banks, I've been reading from the sidelines for a while. I think there are probably quite a few others like us. Thanks to all for the great posts - have learnt alot - keep them coming. Congrats to Ralf and the team that the Megalodon is going ahead.

Deposit sent for s/no. 88. The waiting begins.

I think this particular watch and its development has generated allot of excitement.  I imagine several more newbies (such as myself) coming out of the word work in support of this effort.  A fun and dynamic community to be a part of.

What kind of lug-to-lug distance would we be looking at? Still having serious doubts on whether its too big or not, especially because it would be quite some money for me (being a student). Its been on my mind all weekend :P

I have a 47mm flieger (diameter inc crown: 53mm) and that barely fits my 6.7 inch (17 cm) wrists, so anything larger would wear like an oversized watch (which is definately not something I want).

Just wondering if i should go for this one or wait for the GMT. I have a slight preference for the Megalodon.

Hello Ralf,

I can see that a common concern amongst people considering the Megalodon is the size... myself included (notwithstanding that, I believe this is a project worth supporting and I've already sent my deposit for s/no. 88). This is going to be the biggest Benarus so far, and anyone with wrists less than 7 inches is quite validly concerned about how it will wear, especially on straps.

Therefore, I would like to suggest that you provide 2 lengths of straps as an option. One short (perhaps) 100/70, and one long 120/80 - buckle length not included.

There is also another possible solution for those with wrists less than 7 inches. That will be to provide the straps on a clasp buckle which threads the tail of the strap on the inside instead. I have a Citizen Promaster with this, and it works well to 'bulk' up the wrist and mask the size of the watch.

Please consider. Thanks.

I like the idea of a shorter strap option .....

Agreed.  I tried to write down all of the numbers that people posted; but I know that sometimes they are ordered without a forum post.  #68 is fine too & the watch itself is even finer!  :)

It would be best to send another PM. Ralf would likely see that faster than a post on the forum. ;)
