Well, another project is almost done I do all my own work.  First pic is the floor framed out.

Next it has the flooring on and I added linoleum to aid in cleaning out the poo.subtlelaugh.gif

Next is the walls framed.

Next is some of the walls sheeted and roof framed.

Heres the chicks inside at 3 weeks old.  26 of them.

Here they are at 7 weeks in their fenced in area grazing.

Eating some feed.

And finally the front of the coop.

Coop is 12'x8' with 8' walls. I still have some trim work to do and get the roost and nest boxes  built. I also have to build some shelves and such in the small area where I will be keeping feed and supplies. Then wire it for power.  Then I am going to paint it white with black trim.  Been lucky and havent lost one bird.  Hopefully by oct or nov we will be getting some eggs.:D

Thanks guys.  thankyou.gif  I really enjoyed building it and it is kinda relaxing just watching them graze outside.  I guess you could say they are "therapeutic".

I have a heat lamp in the coop for them.  I will also close up the vents to keep the drafts off them.  May even insulate the coop. They will still go outside in the winter and dig in the snow for food.
I will also have to trick them so they keep laying many eggs. It goes off the amount of day light they have. When the days get shorter they lay less eggs.  I will have to have a light on a timer inside so they still get about 15 hours of light.

I hear ya Skip.  They get locked down at night.  I have it fox and 'coon proof.   I have netting over their yard  to protect them from the many hawks and owls we have around here also.
