Hi - I'm relatively new to watches. I recently added a Lum-Tec B3 (with a Stone Creek Strap and sapphire caseback) to my Omega Planet Ocean and now would like a watch winder. Can you please give me some advice on reasonably priced watch winders? Thank you!

imho winders aren't all they are wound up to be but if you have to buy one buy an Orbita and that's what you will find 9 out of 10 WIS reccomending....:D ....once your collection grows winders become more of a nuisance than anything else....now I speak as a WIS with a fair amount of watches and there is no way I can keep that many winders...space and the electric bill would limit that lol!....the lube used by watchmakers these days doesn't coagulate nor get varnishy as what was used in the past so constant winding is not neccessary....now with 2 watches and wanting to keep them wound at all times is cool and understandable if you just want to grab and go but to most WIS the whole setting the time and winding routine is a big part of the hobby...at least to me it is....anyways Welcome to 3T hand6.gif

Aaaarg... Winders. They have been a killer choice for me. I mean I want to have a good one and have been just a click away from buying one many times, but the cost... OMG they are expensive! I am constantly in a fight with what I need vs. what I want and what I want always wins out. Ergo, I buy another watch. I have bought a few of the cheaper eBay brands 4 and 6 winders, they are a bit noisy and have been working for the last 3 years, albeit they are starting to slow down a little. One day I will take the plunge and dump $500.00 or so on nice one, one day.... Maybe..... If my finger will actually click the mouse button....

I have two 8 watch winders and they are great! They keep all my favorites running. Found them on Ebay.

I've got one of the cheap 8 watch ones from ebay. IMO they are ok but I only purchased one because I'm on a budget. The more recent ones have an actually decent winder - It switches directions automatically and has a decent duration, but is not adjustable. The fit and finish is a little lacking as well. The one I found for about 160 has a decently varnished box, but a plastic window and a fake microleather interior cloth and the watch baskets are cheap. One of mine rubs on an edge each rotation. Also the pillows are very small. It fits most of my watches but with a seadevil on the way I'll probably have to lose a space. My current plan is to buy a good winder, strip it apart to look at the electronics, and then build a big one for myself using similar components.
