So the wife and I decided to head down to our house in the mountains in NC this morning...the plan was to go yesterday but based on the weather we decided to hold off a day.

So the trip down was fine, hit a little bad weather cutting through the mountains to go around the rock slide on 40 but no big deal.....got to the road up our mountain no big deal.....from traffic on the road we were able to get about 2/3 of the way up the mountain and hit DEEP SNOW, about 2 feet...could not go any further....sad thing is my Hummer is parked at the house...a lot of good that did me.

I needed to get the car off the road, it took about 2 hours to dig a path (luckily we had a snow shovel with us), pulled the car off the road and started the trek of about 1/2 mile up the mountain in 2 feet of snow carrying 3 cats in their cages....not fun.

Finally got to the house and found out we had no power...great!!!!   So while Lisa started a fire i dug out the hummer and drove back down to the car to unload it.....i must say that was fun...the 2 feet of snow was nothing for the H2....had a blast with it and really happy i had not sold it yet....driving it back to Ohio on this trip to sell it.

So all settled in at around 6:00, pulled the futon in front of the fire and at 10:00 we are on our 3rd bottle of wine and are pretty toasted.

Just thought I would share my great day.....thank god for the air card, at least i can get online....until the battery dies anyway!!!!!

Sounds like fun Nick.  I kinda like it..... to a point when the power goes out.  I dont do enough reading so when the power goes out, we light up our boat load of hurricane lamps and I get out some reading material.  All bets are off though if the wife gets frisky.toon1.gif                  I have a generator now so those days are gone... unless I run out of fuel.

Finally just got our power back party.gif it was kind of fun roughing it for the last 24 hours....had to fill up buckets with water out of my creek so we could flush the toilets mistake.gif.

The cats are just GREAT Tony...thanks for asking woohoo.gif

Got the car about 1/4 mile further up the mountain....going to be in the low 50's the next couple days....would be nice to get it at least to the end of my driveway.
