The soccer world cup kicked off on Friday midday, with a big fanfare and incredible atmosphere everywhere. At least South Africa drew 1-1 with Mexico in the opener. Not a bad result! Friday night the entire country erupted with parties everywhere. Even though I'm not a soccer fanatic, the spirit is contageous and I have been watching most of the matches. Too bad the socceroos failed dismally against Argentina.... The England / USA game was a disappointment. At the time of writing, Denmark just now scored an own goal against the Netherlands. Go figure! On Saturday I enjoyed watching two rugby games. South Africa beat France.......well, thrashed them, actually! In the other game, the Wallabies beat England.
