Hey, a new Sea Angler (Silver Surfer) arrived. I love this watch. Do all Anglers have mineral crystal?

Congrats on that very cool and very rare Silver Surfer aafanatic!!! thumbsup.gif

Regarding the crystal...not all Sea Anglers have the mineral crystal...Martin offered sapphire crystals as on option on certain Sea Anglers (orangia, lume dial, and silver surfer versions had sapphire as an option if I recall correctly...there may be others).

This has been mentioned by others before (I think it was Paxman here at 3T), but some use the water drop test to determine if it is a sapphire or mineral crystal.  If the water forms drops and beads-up, you probably have sapphire.  If the water spreads out, you probably have mineral crystal.  I would suggest you start with a clean crystal if you try it since contaminants on the surface could affect surface tension, but many say that this works.

Thank you, Stew,
I am glad to know that this one is rare. I have been after it for awhile, and when it came up this time I lunged at it. I am glad that I didn't waste this opportunity or take it lightly.
I don't know why it matters to me if it is sapphire or mineral. It's not scratched and I take good care of my watches, but if it is mineral, I would consider replacing it.
