Anyone ever purchase a Rolex to get it out of their system and either kept it or sold it later down the line?
I'm stuck on wanting one (Submariner).

I've ALWAYS wanted a Sub. I remember being a kid and wanting one. Just something about them. I just fear I'll be disappointed one way or another.
In the mean time I'll be wearing a homage of some sort and will prepare myself mentally for the real deal. I know it's not the same but at least I can think it is.
Hmmm, do I REALLY REALLY want to spend $xxxx on one?

if you're going to buy a Rolie,do it quick!...prices are on the rise, and many AD's are already selling at the increased prices...Rolex has proven over the years, never to go out of style,to hold their prices on resale, and many have become quite collectable over the years, garnering huge profits...a future collectable prediction by many enthusiasts is the new Milgaus...ThumbsUp02.gif

I can see the increases already. I browsed a gray market dealer recently and their sale price was above MSRP. Insane.
I might start eating more PB&J sandwiches to save my lunch money. lol

Slightly off topic, does anyone see Bremont hitting it big later down the line? They seem to be up and coming.

I'm with Oscar and Mark. Rolex is among the most covetable of brands and maybe the MOST powerful. Get that Sub because no collection is really complete, IMHO, without a Sub. You won't regret it. Subs are virtually indestructible.

10 years from now, you'll know what we mean when you walk into an AD and faint from where the prices have risen to.

From what I've seen, Bremont is just selling ETA movements at 20 times them prices. Nothing to do with Rolex and them inhousereally.gif

+1. Strictly from a business viewpoint, Bremont does not have the capabilities to do what Rolex did. Therefore it cannot hit it big down the line. There are many, many other brands ahead of it in line. I have nothing against Bremont. ThumbsUp02.gif

Seriously: What's the deal about Bremont? Since when they started to make watches? Why and how do they reach stratosfere prices with ETA movements and watches who don't seems to be more performant than some other well proven sport-watches brands?
I call this: I overprice myself to give me fast status...

Yes Bremont are nice watches but also IMHO they are over priced. Many at half the price or less out there are better watches of the same class and type of watch.

Glad to see your opinions on Bremont. dog smile.gif

Back to Rolex. A general question if I may.. What are you guys doing as far as insuring them? I don't own a house so I don't have home owners to throw the watch under if/when I get it.

If I totally disregard my immediately obtainable grail (U1) I can surely save up a bit more for the Sub. That's my HUGE debate right now. Although excessive, I really like the full tegimented option on the U1.

The 40mm sub looks great: Prefer the no-date version...But, 40mm is little for everyday use.
It's great when I work on oil plants but when I'm home, it's a bit small...
The fact that the sub is kind of slim(like 12mm) don't help it either.
My Marathon SAR who's 41.5mm(bezel diam.) and 14mm thick has more wrist presence.

Here to compare, a "sub case" and my SAR

Out of all my watches so far, I get more compliments with the TSAR. It just looks the part. Ugh. The SAR was on my list as well in the past. I let it slip away. Would have been nice...

The Rolex itch can be a Bitch. I've owned 2 rollies in the past and hope to replace them again someday. If you can, then I say scratch that itch. It only gets worse if you don't LOL

My advice to you is to head straight for the Sub. It's a no brainer and then when you have it, cherry pick and buy other pieces that you THINK you want. The Sub is something you KNOW you want. From what I can tell, the Sub has chosen you. Hit it!dog smile.gif

Thanks it was a choice of the new Sub C or what I've ALWAYS wanted the SD, Iwent w/ the SD, even though my  AD here was gonna give me  a SMOKIN' deal on the Sub C, In the end I went to what's been calling me 4 years.

IMO it's not about saving but to stop making the little purchases to fill the void , but to hold off  to make yr heart content on what you really want. thumbsup.gif

Awesome William!!!!snoopy1.gif

The 16600 Sea-Dweller is one of my long, long time grails (to tell you the truth, I don't know why I haven't ever jumped)...I think I'm secretly afraid of the stigma that Rolex has with joe public out there...but I should probably just get over it, and go with what I like someday.crap.gif

Can't wait to see yours!
